I don’t know about you, but chocolate has always been my absolute weakness. My sweet-tooth is one that can never be fully satiated, or so I thought until I came across these decadent chocolate dessert recipes. All of these recipes are sure to make your mouth water and eyes grow 10x bigger because they look that good, and I can assure you that they taste just as good as they look. Treat yourself with what is arguably the world’s best guilty pleasure.

1. Better Than Sex Cake

This cake has got it all! It truly pulls out all of the stops with it containing chocolate, caramel, and Cool Whip. It makes sense why this amazing treat is called Better Than Sex. This chocolate dessert recipe is super easy to whip up too. Start with making a chocolate cake following the directions on the box. Make sure the cake is at least 9×13 inches! When the cake is done baking, take the blunt handle end of a wooden spoon and poke evenly spaced holes throughout the cake. Pour an entire 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk all over the cake, making sure no spaces are neglected. Then, pour an entire 16-ounce jar of caramel sauce all over the cake, making sure that is evenly covering all areas of the cake too. Refrigerate the cake for 2 hours, take it out, and spread some Cool Whip on top it. Sprinkle some crushed up Heath bars until your heart’s content and voila! You have a cake that’ll have you running to the kitchen dying for more.

2. Brownie Cookies

This decadent chocolate recipe combines two of the best things in the world: cookies and brownies. Imagine the smell of these bad boys baking in the oven. Honestly, it is what I imagine heaven smells like. To make these, start by placing 8 ounces of chocolate chunks and 1/4 cup of butter in a microwavable bowl. Microwave the chocolate in 30-second increments until the chocolate is almost melted, and then stir it until smooth. Place 2 eggs, 3/4 cup of brown sugar, and 3/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract in a mixer-bowl then beat it for about 3 minutes and stop only when it is light and fluffy. Add-in the melted chocolate to the ingredients inside of the mixer-bowl and then beat it together until smooth. Add-in 2/3 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder to the bowl. Mix it until all the ingredients are combined together.  Stir in 3/4 of the remaining chocolate chunks. Cover the bowl and let it chill in the fridge for at least an hour. While the dough is chilling, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Take the dough and ball them up into approximately 2 tablespoon-sized chunks. Place each ball 2-3 inches apart and place the remainder of the chocolate chips into the top of each cookie dough ball. Bake each sheet of cookies one sheet at a time for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are golden. Take the cookies out of the oven, let the cookies cool for 10 minutes, and then transfer them onto a cool rack. After that, they are ready to be enjoyed! Remember, you can use any type of chocolate chunks you would like and can throw in mini-M&M’s, cut up pieces of peanut butter cups, or even toffee!

3. Chocolate Dump Cake

This Chocolate Dump Cake can be made in less than an hour. To make this chocolate dessert recipe, place 1/2 a cup of unsalted butter in a 13×9 inch baking dish, place the dish into an oven that has been preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Check on the butter and once it is completely melted, remove the pan from the oven and stir the butter so that it is smooth and covers the entire bottom of the pan. Take 1 box of your preferred chocolate cake mix and sprinkle the dry cake mix on top of the melted butter in a flat even layer. Then, take 1 box of your preferred instant chocolate pudding mix and sprinkle it over the chocolate cake mix, making sure that it is being evenly distributed. Take 1 1/2 cups of milk and drizzle it on top of the pudding mix. Carefully manipulate the pan so that the pudding is covered with as much milk as possible. Using a spoon, gently press down on the milk so that it begins to absorb some of the cake mix and the pudding mix and add in your chocolate chips on top. Put the pan into the oven for about 35-40 minutes. When the time is up, the top of the cake should be soft and jiggly but not runny or hard.  After that, let the cake cook and put your favorite toppings on it! This could include ice cream, whipped cream, or even more chocolate chips!

4. Oreo Dirt Pie

I have yet to meet a person that doesn’t like Oreos. With that being the case, I am sure that this dessert is sure to be a winner amongst any and all of your guests. Make this Oreo Dirt Pie dessert and you will not regret it! First,  pick out your favorite box of chocolate cake mix and bake it according to the directions on the box in a 9×13 inch pan. Once the cake is done baking, allow it to cool for 10 minutes. While the cake is warm, take the blunt end of a wooden spoon and poke holes along the top of your cake. Take a jar of hot fudge and heat it in the microwave until you can stir it and thin it out. Pour the jar of hot fudge onto the top of the cake. Let the cake absorb the fudge while it cools. Leave a little bit of fudge so you can top the Oreo Dirt Pie with more of it later. While the cake is cooling down, prepare the pudding layer by mixing together a package of instant dark chocolate pudding with 1 3/4 cups of cold milk. Before the pudding sets, pour it on the cake then put the cake in the fridge for approximately 15 minutes. Mix the second box of instant dark chocolate pudding mix with cold milk and refrigerate it until it has set. Place enough Oreos in a plastic bag to fill it up  3/4 of the way and then crush the Oreos to turn them into smaller pieces. When the pudding has set, mix in a container of Cool Whip until thoroughly distributed. Mix in the crushed Oreos into the mixture and top the cake with the remaining hot fudge and any leftover Oreo bits. Make sure to serve this dessert cold!

5. Chocolate Texas Sheet Cake

This cake is truly a classic that will make your sweet tooth happy! To make this delicious dessert, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a large, rimmed 12×18 inch baking sheet. In a bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 cups granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. In a saucepan, place 1 cup water, 1 cup salted butter, and 6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder. Place the saucepan over medium heat and when the mixture begins to boil, stir it and make sure all the lumps are smoothened out. Pour what is in the saucepan over what is in the bowl and stir the concoction until it’s combined. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk, 2 large eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and mix until smooth. Pour the batter into the baking sheet and bake it for 18-20 minutes. When the cake is almost ready to be taken out of the oven, start making the icing. In a saucepan, combine 6 tablespoons milk, 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup butter, and a pinch of salt over medium heat and mix until the icing comes to a simmer. Once it does begin to simmer, remove the saucepan from the heat, add in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and whisk in 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar until the icing is smooth. Then, stir in the chopped nuts and keep the icing warm until the cake is done baking. Once the cake is ready, take it out of the oven, let it cool for 10-12 minutes, and then pour the warm icing over the cake. Spread the icing out evenly using a spatula and let it set on top of the cake for at least 20 minutes before cutting the cake and serving it.

6. Brownie Truffles

If you want an easy, chocolatey treat to eat, I recommend this brownie truffle recipe. To start, get your favorite box of brownie mix. Bake the brownies following the direction located on the box. Let the brownies cool after baking then scoop out the brownies from the pan and place it into a large bowl. Add in softened cream cheese and mix together until perfectly combined. Roll the brownie mixture into small balls and place them onto a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Place the cookie sheet in the freezer until the brownie balls are firm to the touch. While the brownie balls are setting, melt some chocolate chips in a medium-sized bowl in the microwave. Then take the brownie balls out of the freezer, place a brownie ball on a fork, and dip the fork into the melted chocolate. Make sure that each and every one of the brownie balls are evenly covered with chocolate. Then, place the now chocolate-coated brownie balls back onto the parchment paper and place them into the freezer. Once the chocolate coating hardens, the truffles are ready to eat!

Hello! My name is Sara Bowers and I am a Senior at Azusa Pacific University where I am double majoring in Allied Health and Honors Humanities and minoring in Psychology. As a young girl, I loved to write and English became my favorite subject very quickly. The sciences also intrigued me and I was often told to choose one path, but I did not want to sacrifice either of my passions. It turns out I didn't have to and thanks to the many novels read in my Humanities courses and the writing prompts I tackled alongside them, my love of writing was further affirmed and I grew more confident that I made the correct decision in pursuing both paths. I have a heart for helping people by any means necessary, so if that means helping someone with a physical ailment, informing someone of the best places to eat, or giving tips to calm anxiety, I am all for it. So, there you have it - that's me! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to get to know me a little bit! I hope you stop by and check out more of my articles in the future!
