Daunting Decisions You’ll Face After Graduation

As the last few months of college pass by, graduation shows its face, and the taste of reality begins to set in. Responsibilities start to pile up and big life decisions show their face.

This period of time can be stressful.

Thankfully, there are people who have already walked your path. They’ve analyzed their lives and reflected on what helped them during their stressful times.

We have compiled some of the most common after graduation problems and solutions in this article. Below are the daunting choices you’ll be faced with after graduating, along with information to help you make decisions with ease.

Master’s degree or get a job?

Life brings with it many decisions: wrong or right, yes or no, do I continue my schooling or use what I know and look for a job? This complex question can be broken down into manageable parts so that it’s easier to make a decision after a bachelor’s graduation.

Weigh in factors like your financial outlook, your career goals, and your current emotional state so you can see the big picture.

As an added tip for peace of mind, you should only go to school if you know it will benefit your career path. Working a job will always benefit you, as it brings in money, adds to your resume, and builds your network. Continuing education without a purpose only adds debt and emotional stress, so be honest with yourself about what you truly want.

Which job offer do I take after graduation?

After you graduate college, the world perceives you in a new light. Businesses know the success of their business resides in landing the best candidates for the job. The candidates are you.

Our advice? Use this to your advantage but stay humble.

Just because you receive an offer from a prestigious company, doesn’t mean it’s the perfect fit for you. It’s important to take time and think about what you want your work life to be like.

Some common questions to ask yourself when deciding upon a job.

  • Do you want a fun office?
  • Small, medium, or large business?
  • How long of a commute do you want?

Ultimately, any decision is the right one. Either you love it, or you learn from it, so don’t make it harder than it has to be.

Do I move back home or try to make it on my own?

For many graduates, the choice is made when they receive a job offer – they have to be where their job is. When you don’t have a job to help you decide, this decision can be one of the toughest to make.

Where you live affects your quality of life. Where you live affects your job opportunities, the income you make, even the activities you can participate in.

To relieve some of the weight of this decision, sit down and figure out what matters most to you. You will be happiest when you can find a place that has the qualities you need to succeed.

Should I stay or should I go…to a new job

One of the perks of graduating college is knowing companies want and need you in order to grow. Your mind has been molded to fill gaps in their business and with the knowledge you possess, you can make an impact.

The problem is when the job isn’t the right fit and you try to make it work, far longer than you should.

There are many reasons a job isn’t a good fit for someone. Their boss can be unrealistic, the commute too far, or the job may be a bad fit altogether. Knowing when to leave is one of the biggest life lessons you’ll have to face.

It can be nerve-wracking the first time you decide to uproot your comfortable life in order to find something better, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. Opportunity is always knocking for those who look for it, keep your eyes peeled and you won’t have to worry about a lame job for too long.

It’s all the small stuff, so don’t sweat it

Although these decisions can seem daunting right after graduation, in reality, they are small stepping stones in your life. Each difficult decision is an opportunity to grow into the person you’re working hard to become.

Use this window of time to reflect on how much you’ve grown since high school and be proud of where you are today, even if it isn’t exactly where you want to be. You have the rest of your life to learn to make things perfect – use right now to simply enjoy it.
