10 Date Night Ideas At Home For You And Your SO
I’ll be the first to admit that I am a homebody. I find it exhausting to always be looking for places to go on dates. I don’t want to go to a crowded place and overpay for food every time I want some romance. So, I have become an expert at making evenings at home fun and romantic. I get it, it’s easy to watch Grey’s Anatomy while he looks at YouTube videos on his phone, but that does not count as a date night in. So, if you need a little inspiration for quality home time together… keeping reading for some great date night ideas at home.
Darts
A dartboard can cost as little as $20 at your local department store, and it usually has 50 or more games programmed into it, so it’s one of the perfect date night ideas at home. You don’t have to be good, just don’t throw the dart before your SO gets out of the line of fire.
Bake-off
It really is more fun than you think. Think of a dish you have always wanted to try, but never attempted… something little like soufflé or crepes, and make a night of it. Go to the store together, pick out each other’s aprons, and bake away.
Learn a dance
If you are the type of couple that doesn’t take each other too seriously, consider learning a dance off of YouTube. You will probably look ridiculous but who cares?
Make a fort
I will never be too old to make a fort in my living room… never. This is so much fun to do, and honestly, kind of sets the mood if you know what I mean.
Blind taste test
I am a big Hell’s Kitchen fan and fully admit that I stole this idea from them, but it’s a winner. Go to the store, or raid the fridge and create a blind taste test. My favorite thing to use is ice cream, but it can be anything. Just remember, you will probably be kissing this person later, so maybe leave the anchovies in the fridge
Cards
I’m not talking about strip poker (but to each his own), I am more of a Go Fish or Slap Jack kind of girl. Either way, cards is one of those things that costs almost nothing and has limitless options for playing.
Spa night
Maybe your SO won’t be into this, but who doesn’t want back messages, hot baths, and facial masks. And, if things go well, you are all ready to go for the bedroom.
Battleship
I would extend this to every board game, but battleship is my favorite and I’m the author so… I do what I want. Plus battleship is playful, fun, and requires little attention, so the conversation can be flowing.
Comedy night
This is something my husband and I have started doing pretty regularly. Pick a stand-up comedy act on Netflix, pop some popcorn, and laugh together.
Sundae’s
You can tell by this list that I am a big fan of ice cream, but I make no apologies for myself. If you are looking for something fun and sweet to do together, go all out on building your dream ice cream sundae together. Even better, build it in competition, taste each other’s and see who’s is better… the loser cleans up.

Hi, I am Nancy Strahan. I recently graduated with my BA in English Literature and am working to gain experience in the writing/content creation business. I was born and raised in Alaska and I love it here. I am pretty much an outdoor and adrenaline junkie, so if it is crazy or in nature, I'm there. So, naturally all things camping, backpacking, and adventure related are my favorite topics to write about.
