Ah, back to school. The time where we all go shopping for new clothes and school supplies. As much as we wish it were easy to find Tumblr worthy school supplies in local stores, sometimes you just have to do it yourself. Here are some cute school supply DIYs you should totally try to make your pencils and notebooks and such less boring.
As far as school supply DIYs go, this is probably as easy as it gets. All you need is some number 2 pencils and some washi tape. Simply wrap your pencil with the washi tape of your choice! This is great because it’s so customizable and inexpensive. Whatever style you prefer, there’s bound to be a washi tape that goes with your aesthetic. Plus, if you lend someone a pencil in class you’ll be able to tell if they keep because your pencils will be so recognizable!

There’s nothing worse than having a bunch of paper clips or binder clips loose in your backpack. This is a DIY school supply you might not have thought of! Take travel containers for lotion and repurpose them to hold your paper clips, binder clips, and maybe even some mints! The original DIY was made using a Silhouette Cameo, which cuts things like paper and vinyl, but you could totally use paint or just stickers you have lying around! This is another DIY that’s totally customizable. If you don’t have a label maker, you could probably skip that if your pots are clear like these ones are!

Whether you’re reading a textbook or a novel you were assigned for your English class, you might find it helpful to have a bookmark or two around so you don’t lose your page. Why not make your own with this tutorial on how to make these super cute bookmarks with just some yarn and paper clips? This DIY school supply won’t take you long to make and will serve you well throughout the semester. Plus, it’s cuter than a traditional bookmark! You could even use it to block off the section you need to read so you can track your progress!

These notebooks look so cute and chic but they’re surprisingly easy to make! All you need is a notebook, glue, colored card stock, patterned paper, scissors, and alphabet stickers if you want to label your notebooks. You could even put on them what class they’re for! The front pocket you add to the front would be a great place to store any handouts you get in class until you get home, or could store flashcards or your syllabus! Again, this school supply DIY is super customizable since you get to pick the pattern and the color of the paper, so you can really make your notebooks fit your style.

It’s a daily struggle to keep your earbuds untangled, and when they do get wrapped around themselves it can take way too long to get them apart. To prevent tangling and keep better track of your headphones, make this super easy earphone holder out of an old mint container. It’s easier than you might think and super cute! When you buy your supplies, you might end up with extra keychains. Why not make some for your friends to use so they’re always reminded of you? Or give them to your new roommates as a welcome gift!
