10 Cute Outfits For The Snow

Campus winters are fickle and sometimes it’s hard to look cute when it’s 10 degrees outside and 80 in your classroom. Here are some do’s and don’ts for those colder days for a unique look on campus and get some super cute outfits for the snow.

DO Layer

Layering is your best friend when you’re walking on campus in between classes. It also makes it easier to be comfortable in your lecture hall. The first layer should be skin tight and for those extra cold days, a thermal is a god send. The second layer can be out-of-season clothing like crop tops and dresses. Add in some tights under your pants for a warmer outfit. Your outerwear is the most important layer. Try a long duster if you’re layering with chunkier items and if it’s snowing, make sure your coat is waterproof.

DON’T Wear Oversized Everything

There is just an overwhelming feeling of wanting to be cozy and warm during the winter months, but try to give some shape to your body as well! If you have on a chunky sweater, wear skinny jeans or leggings, if you are going for a wide leg pant, wear a fitted shirt on top. Mix different silhouettes in your outfit so you don’t end up looking like a pile of laundry.

DO Wear Tights and Socks

You would be extremely surprised at how warm a good quality pair of tights are. Pair them up with a pair of thigh high socks and a cute skirt for an effortless way to dress up the bottom half of your winter outfit.

DON’T Wear Beanies

I know what you’re thinking, but hear me out before you skip ahead. Beanies are just itchy head prisons that give you bad hair when you take them off! I know your head releases the most heat and it’s best to cover it first. Some options instead of beanies to keep your head warm would be to wear a wide brim hat, scarves, and earmuffs.

DO Wear Heels

Snow boots can be cute too! Little known fact, you can wear heels in the winter! Make sure it is first and foremost comfortable and has tread. A low to mid-heel is best for trekking the winter sidewalks. A trick to walking on ice in heels is to put all your pressure into the balls of your feet for stability. It is possible to find cute outfits for the snow.

DON’T Wear Pajamas

I know, sometimes it’s really hard to get out of bed, let alone change out of your pajamas, but if you do decide to go out in your pajama pants, your legs would be freezing! The loose material would let the wind blow through your legs and don’t get me started on the hems of your pants! They would get all wet and dirty with the sleet. To prevent your day from getting any worse, change into a pair of leggings which are equally as comfortable and throw them in the dryer or blow dry them first so they’ll be warm when you put them on.

DO Play With Accessories

Accessories can make or break an outfit and in the winter, it is the best time to invest in functional and fashionable accessories. You can choose from different textures, colors and styles!

DON’T Be Monochrome

Winter does not always have to equal grey, foggy and monochrome. It’s also a really great time to wear colors you normally wouldn’t. Stand out in the snow!

DO Be Comfortable

Be comfortable above all, don’t wear things that you don’t feel great in. Your outfit should reflect how you feel and be an extension of your individuality and style. It is absolutely possible to stay comfortable while wearing cute outfits for the snow!

DON’T Put Fashion Over Functionality

Sometimes it’s extremely tempting to put fashion over functionality, but in these cold months you have to be extra careful that you are going to be warm enough. It’s awfully easy to catch a cold and if you’re living in the dorms, it’ll be a relentless cycle of getting better and catching it again from one of your dorm mates. Make sure you’re warm AND fashionable.
