If you’ve just gotten into a new relationship, Valentine’s Day can be one of the most nerve-racking holidays of the year. Not only are you both new to this, but you’re not even sure if they’re into the whole V-day celebration thing to begin with. I get it- it can be overwhelming. Luckily, we’ve rounded 5 totally not intimidating date ideas for you to try out. Here are 5 unique NYC Valentine’s Day date ideas for you to spend your first valentine’s day together!
This has to be one of my favorite date ideas ever! Honestly, I would paint and sip everyday if I could, and if you’ve never heard of this genius date idea then allow me to enlighten you. Paint and sip is NYC’s finest BYOB interactive painting class, where you can bring your own booze and drink all the while you re-create a Van Gogh masterpiece. It’s fun, it’s intimate, and you get to go home drunk and with your very own painting. There are a ton of different paint and sip classes throughout the city, so just look on Groupon to see which one is offering a deal.
Another one of my favorite date night ideas, Broadway Roulette is honestly the Mecca of all Broadway show company’s. You pick a date, you pick your preference (musicals or plays), cross out 4-6 shows you definitely don’t want to see, and you only find out which show you’re going to see the morning of. I used this company for a recent date night with bae and we scored tickets to Kinky Boots! Not to mention, we got amazing seats where we could see and hear everything clearly. All of the tickets on Broadway Roulette are either $49 or $59, and they have literally EVERYTHING- The Lion King, Hamilton, Aladdin- it’s all there. This would be the perfect, spontaneous Valentines date idea if you’d rather have your night together be a surprise. You can buy tickets on their website here. This is one of the best Valentine’s Day date ideas!
Alright, this is obviously way more raunchy than cute, but the Museum of Sex is a perfect date idea to really set the mood for the night. Immerse yourselves in the museum’s couple’s VR experience- Celestial Bodies- and then head over to the main floor where you can grab drinks. The museum is open until 11pm on weeknights and Sunday, and midnight on Friday and Saturday, so you have plenty of time to explore all of the exciting erotic exhibitions that it has to offer.
Again, more raunchy than cute, but totally worth it. We’ve all had massages at least one point in our lives, but a couple’s massage? It’s a whole different ballgame. Enjoy a very intimate night with bae at Flatiron’s Dyanna Spa in a cozy, fireplace setting where you can unwind to a Swedish, Deep Tissue, or even an Aromatherapy massage. And of course, you can always find couple massage deals on Groupon or Living Social.
Super dorky, I know, but this is seriously one of the cutest date ideas ever. Spend some quality time cozying up next to bae on the ice, all the while having 7-year-old professional figure skaters whiz past you as you struggle not to fall on your ass. It’s truly a humbling experience, but nonetheless fun! Ice skate at The Rink in midtown’s Rockefeller center, and then go for the best hot chocolate you’ll ever have in your life at Cocoa Bar on 21 Clinton Street. I know, just thank me later.
