Kohl’s has one of the most sought after fashion internships in the country and it’s because of their competitive pay and 70% job offer rate. Kohl’s offers six different divisions of internships with there being between three and four individual internships per division. Some of these divisions also have trainee programs, which are great for those who have just graduated.
LIDS corporate headquarters are located in Zionsville, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis. Their internships are paid and mostly focused on finance and accounting; number crunching more than creativity according to former interns. These fashion internships are perfect for those studying business or finance but want to work in the fashion industry.
Target’s corporate headquarters have a variety of leader programs, development programs, and internships. They specialize in anything from store executives to associate buyers to product design. Those I’ve spoken with have mixed feelings about store employment, but working for headquarters has been well recommended across the board.
AE has fashion internships available in just three divisions, merchandising, inventory planning and supply chain. If you are business or number oriented, this is the internship program for you. They are paid and all run over the course of 10 weeks. Upon completion of your internship period, you will have to turn in a project related to what you learned over the course of 10 weeks.
TJX is the company that owns discount retailers such as TJMaxx and Marshall’s. They offer 12-week summer fashion internships, 6-month co-ops, and entry-level retail development programs in locations all over the country. If you’re looking to stay local, this may be a good corporate company to check out.
Land’s End has internships available for both graduate and undergraduate students at their Dodgeville, Wisconsin corporate headquarters. They offer 12 different options for undergraduates and six for graduate students. They also have other postgraduate opportunities available, all located at their corporate headquarters. Land’s End offers everything from apparel design to human resources recruiting, so this is a company for everyone.
Chico’s is located in Fort Meyers, Florida, which should already put this company on your list of fashion internships to check out. They have both design and merchandising internships, so no matter what sector of fashion you are interested in, there is something for you to do at Chico’s.
Neiman Marcus offers a group corporate internship that if expected you are placed in either buying or planning divisions. Occasionally you will be given the chance to be placed in marketing, finance, supply chain or IT divisions. At the end of this internship, you will be given the opportunity to propose a business plan to the Neiman Marcus executive board.
You’ll have to jump the gun on this one because they only accept applications from September to October. They are located in Columbus and New York so your internship will be located in either of those two locations. They offer full-time and paid positions and give you the opportunity to have lunch with senior leaders.
