Top 5 Coolest Eyeliner Looks For Hooded Eyes

Do you have hooded eyes, but so desperately want to rock an eyeliner look to take your makeup from an 8 to 10?! It is so difficult finding looks and even executing a basic “winged-eyeliner look” if you have hooded eyes… but I have the top 5 looks below to find the eyeliner perfected for hooded eyes!

1. Cat Eye Eyeliner

As a college student with hooded eyes, sometimes I want to go out on the town with my best girlfriends, and rock a bold eye– some kind of look that doesn’t take me an hour to do! My go-to and #1 favorite eyeliner look to perform is the Cat Eye Eyeliner!

Although this can seem daunting, my first tip is to do your eyeliner first, and then any face makeup, because if you mess up, you can take it off and start over (without ruining the hard work you already did)!

There are multiple YouTube channels that show in-depth tutorials on how to perfect a winged liner for hooded eyes, one of my favorites is Smitha Deepak! They do a great job and upload videos frequently with in-depth tutorials! The link is here

The Cat Eye look features a flicked-up wing and a v shape in the inner corner! It is absolutely gorgeous and works great with hooded eyes!

2. Multi-Wing Liner

My second favorite look is a “Multi-Wing Liner” look. This look is great for hooded eyes because it’s almost the trick to doing a regular wing! There isn’t exactly a name for this look, but the image below breaks it down and is super helpful for directing you on how to perfect this look!

I call this the “Multi-Wing Liner” look because it features a hidden wing near the crease of your hooded eyes, that when your eyes are open, reveals a perfect wing!

If you struggle with doing eyeliner, I definitely recommend trying this look out, once I perfected mine, it only took me 5 minutes to do! This look is super cute, helpful to make our hooded eyes pop, and can be used to glam up your everyday makeup routine!

3. Simple Flick

The “Simple Flick” as I call it, is essentially the basic winged liner look. This is the wing that you can wear every day, and it won’t be too bold or look too crazy for your everyday routine! Below is a picture of what it looks like, and with hooded eyes, I usually start from the outer corner of my eye and follow a thin line to the edge of my eyebrow.

From there, I create a triangular shape from the tip of the line we just created (near our eyebrow) and connect it to the corner of my eye. I use any liquid liner (right now the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner is my favorite) and I fill in any gaps I made.

My secret is to set the liner with black eyeshadow! It helps prevent any smudging and makes the black even bolder! I hope you try this out– you won’t regret it!

4. Eyeshadow In Outer Corner

This look is something I found on Pinterest and have started to include in my makeup routine on days when I don’t have a lot of time or want something simple to pair with a statement outfit. Essentially you place any sort of brown or black eyeshadow into the outer corner of your eye. You buff it out, set it, and utilize a wing-like shape to create this outer corner technique!

What makes this so great for hooded eyes is that there are no harsh lines, so you can buff out any shadow into your crease (or the hooded part of your eye) and it will look amazing! This is also great because you can do any color! Brown or black is recommended, but I’ve done this with purple too!

I recommend trying this look out when you are in a rush, and once you build the confidence you can take it up a notch and make this look your own with vibrant colors and even add a waterline liner!

5. Goth Glam Bold Wing

This next look is my go-to for a concert look, or when I’m feeling in the mood to spice up an outfit with an intensely bold eye! I call this look “Goth Glam,” as it was something I wore all the time when my style erred on the side of goth girl.

You practically implement the simple flick eyeliner look, but you keep dragging that line out from your inner corner all the way to the tip of your eyebrow– then you connect that tip to the INNER corner of your eye, and fill in any gaps!

Setting this eyeliner look with eyeshadow is a must, because oftentimes your liner (if you use liquid at least) is going to have some patches, and with our hooded eyes, we need to clean up our liner to make sure it looks as clean as it possibly can.

Below is the image of what it should look like when it is done, but feel free to add your own spin on things and really make it your own! This look can even combine with the “Cat Eye Eyeliner” I prefaced earlier; all you have to do is add the small v shape to your inner corner!

I love this look with some big lashes and a black crayon in my waterline (and also tightline)! Give it a try!

These eyeliner looks are perfect for hooded eyes! Be sure to check out the YouTube channel I mentioned for more in-depth tutorials, and remember to practice, practice, practice! Really any of these looks can be added to your weekly makeup routine, and once perfected can be completed in less than 5 minutes!
