Cool Tiny House Ideas To Maximize Space That’ll Blow Your Mind

The tiny house became popular a few years ago, probably thanks to HGTV and Pinterest, but nevertheless we became obsessed. Let’s face it, at some point in time, we’ve all fantasized about living in our own cute little tiny house and traveling the country. Sure it can be a little unrealistic, something you might outgrow quickly when you really think about, but it still is extremely fascinating to not only see how people live and travel in them but how they maximize their space in such a tiny house.

Let’s take a look at these cool tiny house ideas to maximize space that’ll absolutely fascinate you and blow your mind.

Staircase shelving

It’s a known fact that if there are stairs in your tiny home, there is a good chance it is also doubling as extra shelving, storage, and cabinet areas. Not only is this super aesthetically pleasing and very modern-looking it is also such a space saver and a great way to organize and store extra stuff.

This staircase shelving comes in many shapes and sizes, but this one displays a very general look for this type of design.

Hidden counter space

Counter space in regular-sized homes are hard to come by, so you can imagine how rare counter space would be in a tiny house. Instead of adding space and expanded outward, someone came up with this secret whole to store all your toiletry items, without sacrificing more space. You simply lift up a piece of the countertop to reveal the hidden compartment and replace it when you got out everything you need so you can use the full countertop.

Extra counter space

If you can’t have hidden counter space you might as well add counter space. The perfect way to do this is by having a hidden, sliding drawer that is just an extra surface layer that you can use in your kitchen for cooking or in your bathroom for products and so on. It’s such a great and helpful tool.

Toliet space

In a tiny house, there is usually not a lot of space for as far as the bathroom area. You usually get a small sink, shower, and space is usually combined with the kitchen or laundry area.  This person really maximized the space around their toilet. They put the sink right on top of the toilet as well as having multiple shelves surrounded the toilet for personal, toiletry, and cleaning items. How cool is that!

Closet drawers

When you don’t have a lot of space, a closet can be hard to incorporate into a tiny house. This person came up with a new, creative, and huge way to add their closet to this tiny home. It’s kind of like a drawer, in a living room, that pulls out a little bit longer than normal. You’ve seen these right? Probably not. It’s definitely a tiny home specialty.

Imagine going to the living room every morning and having to pull out these drawers all the way to get the item you want. But hey, it saves a lot of space and you get to keep most of your clothes!

Drawers galore

Maximizing space involves a lot of creativity. When it comes to tiny homes, if you can fit a drawer somewhere, put it there. That’s what this person did. The beautiful living room area also makes a great storage space by the inclusion of several large drawers in the bases of the living room furniture.

You don’t have to sacrifice style and comfort for some storage space with this idea!

Room bunks

You often don’t get the luxury of having separate rooms in a tiny house, but with some simple techniques like this, it can be made possible. I like to call it the bunk-bedroom-seperation-style. It’s a little long of a name, but it best represents this style. Simply having a large beam or wooden floor to separate these rooms makes it look modern but still giving you a clear separation of rooms.

This person did just that by separating the bedroom that’s on the bottom and the living or sitting room on top. How neat!

From bus seats to modern furniture

It is popular to makeover old school buses and transform them into tiny homes, as they are already on wheels and have a large enough space for living. This person seems to have kept some of the bus seats and used them as furniture in parts of the home such as a dining area and additional seating. This is a great utilization of space and the original parts of the bus.

Laundry/bedroom

I believe this is another repurposed school bus. This is a great idea, to use the high ceiling of the bus to stack a bedroom on top of the laundry and clothing storage area. This is a great utilization of space, as long as you don’t mind falling asleep to the sound of laundry.

Bedroom separator

This is similar to the room bunk situation, but in this case, it is used to separate to bedrooms that are side by side. Why not make it one big room? Maybe they have children or one is a guest room? Either way, they are getting the most out of that giant loft space with a simple drywall separator.

Skylight galore

People don’t realize that it can get pretty stuffy in a tiny home. You don’t want to feel closed in or claustrophobic in a tiny box (unless you do than ignore this way on how to maximize space). Anyway, this person clearly added a ton of windows all around their house. This includes skylights which can not only bring in a ton of light but also make your ceilings and walls feel larger and really expand the room to its largest potential.

Don’t forget that when you maximize your tiny home, you want to use every part of it, that includes the walls and ceilings too!
