Rice is a staple of college kids’ diets, and that’s for good reason. It’s super filling and relatively easy to cook, and it is good to eat in so many ways. Soy sauce and rice is a big favorite, as is cheesy rice. But if you don’t have a kitchen in your dorm building that you can use, it may seem impossible to cook rice for yourself. This cooking gadget allows you to cook rice in your microwave- how cool is that? You can also use it to cook polenta and couscous! This is great for making rice to supplement left overs or even just as a quick snack after class when you don’t feel like going to the cafeteria. There’s no way you’re going to keep a regular rice cooker in your dorm, and this is small enough to easily store. The nice thing about being able to make couscous is you could make it and chill it over night and use it to add some protein to a salad. You could also make Mexican rice to supplement a quesadilla or some chips and salsa. You could make a lot of rice at the start of the week and put it in the fridge so you don’t even have to think about it when you’re hungry.
