5 Conversation Starters With Your Crush
Conversation starters with your crush could be one of the most nerve racking moments in your life. You don’t want to sound like an idiot , but you want to make sure you say something that ignites a full on conversation. Here are 5 ideas for a conversation starter.
1. How Was Your Day Today?
This seems like such a generic, basic conversation starter but it works. This question opens up the door for many opportunities to continue on the conversation. They will most likely start off by not elaborating on the answer. They might say it was “good” or “bad”. That’s when you show your expression based on their response and ask them what they did today that made it good or bad.
Then you need to listen carefully to how they answer that question and pick up on something that you can relate to or question more about. For example, if their response was, “It was bad because I had a rude customer at work.” You can reply with, “Ugh, I hate when I encounter a rude customer. What did they do?” It’s good to not talk too much about your experience until they have finished elaborating on theirs. People love being listened too.
2. Netflix
Majority of people own an account or have access to an account to Netflix. And almost every other week, a new movie or show blows up on social media. Pretty soon everyone is asking each other, “Have you seen ‘You’ yet? What about ‘Bird Box’??” Even if you don’t want to contribute to society by watching what is all being talked about, chances are you’re not going to avoid every popular show.
So Netflix is a safe bet as one of the conversation starters. You have a good chance of your crush watching or hearing about the popular show/movie on Netflix and it can open up the chat to stating their opinion about it.
3. Pets
Almost everyone has owned a pet in their life, no matter what the species is. The basics are cats and dogs so that should be one of the good conversation starters. But don’t be surprised if they have never owned either or and don’t have an opinion on them. Most people do, but if they don’t, don’t feel discouraged. Simply elaborate on what kind of pet they have had or if they ever wanted a pet when they were younger.
If they do like pets, then this topic can open up a good long conversation that you can both contribute too.
4. Joke
Humor is key to anybody’s heart. It may not come naturally to all of us, but sometimes trying to crack a joke can be a good way to open up a conversation. It’s also a good one to find out your crushes sense of humor and if it matches yours. People who have a similar sense of humor are usually happier together in a relationship. If you are afraid of opening up this box too early that’s okay and understandable.
But if you feel confident to try and get your crush to laugh, by all means, go for it!
5. Education
Believe it or not, education is one of the good conversation starters. It also helps you understand your crush better about what path they took in life. If they went away to college you can find out what major they pursued and why. If they decided it wasn’t for them and went a different route you can find out what place of employement they are in.
It really opens up a whole range of topics and trying to figure out who this person is that you are trying to get to know better.
