10 Comedy Films Guaranteed To Make You Laugh Out Loud

Comedy films are great to cheer you up if you’re having a bad day or if you just want to have a laugh. There are so many great comedy films to choose from but hopefully this list of 10 comedy films guaranteed to make you laugh out loud will help you out!

1. White Chicks (2004)

This is a great comedy film directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans (the youngest of the Wayans brothers). Two brothers Marcus (Marlon Wayans) and Kevin Copeland (Shawn Wayans) are FBI agents who accidentally messed up a drug bust and as punishment, they are to escort two socialites to the Hamptons where they’ll be used as bait for a kidnapper.

Finding out about their plan, the girls refuse to go. Left with no choice, Marcus and Kevin are forced to transform themselves into white chicks.

2. The Hot Chick (2002)

The Hot Chick is probably one of the lesser-known comedy films but it is one that will definitely make you laugh out loud. Jessica Spencer (Rachel McAdams) is the most popular girl at school but also the meanest.

Trying on a pair of cursed earrings at a shop, she loses one of the earrings at a gas station after an encounter with Clive (Rob Schneider), a crook. Clive finds one of the earrings and tries it on which results in Clive and Jessica switching bodies overnight.

3. Rush Hour (1998)

This film is an older film but it is still considered a great comedy film. A mix of action and comedy, this film has it all. 

A Chinese diplomat’s daughter is kidnapped in LA and Hong Kong Detective Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) is called in to help with the case. The FBI don’t want Lee on the case and so he is palmed off to LAPD for Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker) to watch over him. In the beginning, they have their differences but after finding out they have been ditched by the FBI and LAPD, they work together to solve the case.

The relationship between Lee and Carter is hilarious throughout the film which makes this film worth watching.

4. Employee Of The Month (2006)

Employee Of The Month has the typical romantic-comedy storyline but there are so many funny moments throughout.

Zack (Dane Cook) and Vince (Dax Shepard) are rival co-workers at the country’s largest-discount retailer Super Club. Vince has continuously been employee of the month and is highly regarded amongst management whereas Zack has a more laidback approach. Everything changes with a new cashier Amy (Jessica Simpson) joins the team and both Zack and Vince try to win her over. 

Zack believes winning employee of the month will win over Amy and his efforts in doing so is hilarious.

5. 21 Jump Street (2012)

A box office success, 21 Jump Street is probably already on your list when it comes to comedy films. Starring Jonah Hill as Schmidt and Channing Tatum as Jenko, the two are immature and get up to no good.

Schmidt and Jenko join the Jump Street unit where they use their youthful looks to go undercover as high school students in order to shut down a drug ring. They realise that high school was nothing like how it was when they were high school students and find they are reliving the high school experience in a completely different way.

6. Hot Fuzz (2007)

Another well-known comedy film, Hot Fuzz was released in 2007. This film focuses on Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) who is a former London constable. He is relocated to the peaceful village of Sandford where hardly any crime happens.

He finds himself being partners with PC Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) and when accidents start to happen in the village, Angel makes sure to get down to the bottom of it.

7. Bridesmaids (2001)

You’re probably thinking this is more of a chick flick and wondering what it is doing on our list of top 10 comedy films guaranteed to make you laugh but it will definitely have you laughing.

This film focuses on Anne (Kristen Wiig) who is single and has a messy life. Her best friend Lilian (Maya Rudolph) is getting married and so Anne becomes her maid of honour. Anne does her best at being the maid of honour in the run up the wedding and along the way overcomes obstacles in order to make sure Lilian has the perfect wedding.

8. Mean Girls (2004)

Mean Girls is probably at the top of the list for most people when it comes to choosing a chick flick to watch. It’s not only a go-to film to watch with your friends but it is also a good film to watch when you want to laugh out loud.

The film focuses on teenager Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) who was home-schooled in Africa up until her parents decide to move to Illinois where Cady experiences school for the first time. Cady begins to learn about the different cliques and finds herself becoming friends with the feared but popular group ‘the Plastics’. In finding her true self, Cady starts to understand how ‘the Plastics’ got their name.

9. The Inbetweeners Movie (2012)

Starting off as a British television comedy series about a group of four friends at school, this series shows the awkwardness of being a teenager. This hugely popular television series meant that many people were able to laugh at (or along) with Simon, Will, Jay and Neil. 

With their friendship being strange yet strong, The Inbetweeners Movie follows life after they have finished school where they go on their first ever lads trip to Crete. They hit the party town of Malia renowned for its party scene and find themselves in trouble and while looking for summer flings.

10. What Happens In Vegas

This film starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher make an unlikely couple which surprisingly works well.

Partying it up in Vegas, Joy McNally (Cameron Diaz) and Jack Fuller (Ashton Kutcher) get married after a drunken night. After winning the jackpot on a fruit machine, the two fight over the money in court where the judge rules them to have 6 months marriage counselling while freezing the money. Instead of trying to make their marriage work, they each try to frame each other for not trying to make the marriage work.
