10 Clubs You Should Join At Your School If You Want To Meet New People

Starting college is such an exciting experience for many but can be daunting for others. It’s like you’re in a completely different world, and meeting new people can seem like a difficult thing to do. Fortunately, your university is a great place to meet tons of new people and potentially make new friends. No matter what school you go to, colleges have a countless number of clubs that students can join. There are clubs for your specific major, your beliefs, and even social clubs to make some friends. If you want to meet new people at your new school, here are ten clubs you should consider joining on campus.

Academic clubs

Academic clubs are great for meeting new people because they are the most popular types of clubs on any college campus. There is an academic club for any major, so you’ll be sure to meet plenty of other like-minded students. What’s even better is that you’ll have some connections after you graduate! There might be academic clubs specifically for your school or city, but some reputable national clubs include the Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. See if your university has a chapter you could join!

Religious or spiritual clubs

Religious or spiritual clubs are also great for meeting others who share the same beliefs as you while deepening your own faith. Or you could possibly even branch out and explore other religions if you want! Depending on how diverse your school is, you’ll be able to find something for your religion. Most schools generally have options for religions like Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, Islam, and more. You could also see if your school has any notable national groups on campus such as the International Justice Mission or the Fellowship of Catholic University Students.

Community service clubs

There’s nothing like making a difference for others while meeting some other kind people along the way! Many college campuses have community service clubs dedicated to a variety of different groups. You’re sure to find one that you feel passionate about or possibly learn even more about. There are many national community service and social justice groups that could possibly be at your school. Examples of some notable ones are the Green Campus Program and the UNICEF Campus Initiative.

Sports clubs

Were you an athlete in high school or very passionate about sports? It’s a no-brainer that you’d want to join a sports club when you go to college! You’ll get to meet new people who share the same hobbies as you. Sports clubs are also quite popular at college, so you’ll be sure to make plenty of new friends. There is something for every sport or activity, even e-sports! You could also look for reputable clubs like the National Association for Campus Activities or Association the Promotion of Campus Activities if you’re more into promoting sports than playing them.

Any sorority or fraternity

Joining a sorority or fraternity is another excellent way to meet new people. Depending on which one you join, you might find some people whom you don’t have much in common with. Don’t let that stop you from getting to know them better! You might find out that you have more in common than you realize, or you might learn that opposites attract. There are four types of sororities or fraternities you can choose from: social, academic, professional, and service. The list is endless, so you’ll be sure to find something that’s best for you. If the goal is just to meet new people, your best bet would be to join a social fraternity or sorority. Some examples of social sororities and fraternities are Alpha Kappa Lambda or Alpha Omicron Pi.

Cultural clubs

Cultural clubs can be a lot of fun, as they can help you embrace and celebrate what makes you unique. If you want to meet people who understand you and your cultural background, then these kinds of clubs are perfect for you. Most college campuses have clubs that celebrate a variety of cultures and heritage. You should be able to find something for African Americans, Latinos, Indians, Asians, and more. Some examples of notable national groups you may be able to find on your campus are the Hispanic Association of College & Universities and the Multicultural Student Union.

Media or publication clubs

Those who are interested in creating or reporting would enjoy joining a media or publication club. These types of clubs might be more appealing to multimedia majors. However, they can also be open to other majors who just have an interest in media and publication. You can learn a lot, and you’ll be sure to meet a lot of like-minded people. See if your campus has any chapters of leading national associations such as the College Media Association or the Associated Collegiate Press.

If you have a passion for theater or the arts, you’ll definitely want to find a theater or art club on your campus! You’ll meet plenty of exciting new people and develop your talent and helping others do the same. These types of clubs are perfect for the aspiring actor or artist. Student government clubs

Do you enjoy being active on campus? You should look for some student government clubs to join! These types of clubs are great for making a difference while meeting new people. Not only the people in your club, but you’ll also be able to meet a lot of other students around campus. See if there are any national clubs on your campus, such as the American Student Government Association.
