6 Classic Clothing Items We All Need In Our Wardrobe
Building a wardrobe that absolutely satisfies ourselves can take alot of time. We are constantly evolving as people and with the change inside, it will reflect outside. We swap out clothes, borrow them, give away and repeat the cycle all over again. This can be costly and heavy on the brain because we all want to look good. It is a universal goal that we all aim to achieve when shop or look for new pieces to add in our wardrobe. We spend countless of times thinking, analyzing and rearranging what we have on to look up to par.
I’m no stranger to changing my clothes constantly, somedays, three times a day. This was when I was in middle school and very insecure about everything! Any little thing made me self conscious and fragile. It wasn’t until I got older I realized that a few staple pieces made the difference. Instead of spending time and my parents money steadily being unsatisfied, I saw that some things were perfect for anytime and adaptable for anywhere. I learned the beautiful art of thrift shopping and searching through my older relatives closets for vintage pieces. Here, below are some pieces to collect in your wardrobe to build a closet and confidence!
Plaid Shirt/Skirt
Plaid has madecits way in and out of the spotlight quite successfully. We mostly attribute its value to fall season but it can very versatile all year and life long. In the colder months pairing it with boots and some jean material can give you that classic rugged look. You seem outdoorsy and chic all the same time.
You can also opt for the skirt in the hotter months and have a matching top like Cher in Clueless. It will most certainly stand the test of time as fashion keeps rolling back around like a frisby. I also love plaid accessories to liven up any monochromatic outfits that just need a little more personality. Invesr in some hair clips, a small bag or a belt!
Silk, White Button-up
You can not go wrong with this addition to your wardrobe! It is easily one of those pieces that can make a splash anywhere you have to go. I like when I see it paired with mom jeans and make sandals. 5gis look gives you that “She got her stuff together” look without doing a whole lot. It also can be quite comfortable especially purchasing it in a larger size.
In the hotter months of the year this can be worn with any shirts of your choice. Some biker shorts, jean or pattern shorts can be a great choice! With this piece in your wardrobe, you can also layer it with different pieces. I’ve seen people do a sweater vest over or scarfs to keep warm and chic. You can layer your favorite dress over as well for a 90s play out the play book! Lets go 90s super model!
Black Leather Jacket
This is a must in your wardrobe! It can elevate it so much in a few looks. Leather jackets has been on the scene for a long time and it seems its going no where anytime soon. It can be paired with an extravagant gown or a pair of jeans and Doc Marten boots. They are known for its edgy statement but it also does a good job of making something more casual.
Depending on how you decide to wear it, you can make it dress up look as well. I love to see a nice motorcycle leather jacket with a pair of clean jeans and silk top. It gives the edgy hint to the other wise classic simple look. In the hotter months, having a little picnic dress with the leather jacket hanging off your shoulder is a nice meets naughty look for summer!
Boyfriend Jeans
These jeans are staple to up holding a wardrobe that is versatile and modern. These jeans are the statement piece to add when you don’t want to look all serious. An outfit of a good balance would be a sweater cap sleeve with these jeans and a nice boot. Where the sweater brings in the sophistication, the jeans brings the casual and cool factor to introduce the boots. A coat and some accessories can just add to the look and you’re ready for a day full of compliments.
Buy your jeans loose but not parachute loose! This can look like your jeans is swallowing your whole existence. Having a pair that tapers at the ankle is also a good idea. It will give you the chance to show off fun and interesting shoes or ankle jewelry.
Converse Sneakers
These sneakers are essential to your shoe game and wardrobe. These shoes are classics especially in beach communities and states! They are so easy to slip on and when in doubt, converse your way out! They are so affordable and looks goidcwith anything in your wardrobe! I suggest getting a white pair and black and white pair to go with everything.
These are a clean look and easy to pull off. You can rock a simple shirt and jeans or wear your fav dress with a nice hat. Converse are so well suited for any event, I’ve seen guys in tuxedos with a fresh pair of these shoes! Grab you a pair so you can go into your wardrobe with ease!
Little Black Dress
This dress will carry your entire wardrobe if you let it! Having the LBD can be an easy alternative when you are fresh out of ideas. You can pair this with boots and and the oversized leather we previously mentioned. You can pair the dress with the white silk button-up by tying the shirt over the dress. You can also rock it under to give yourself the preppy vibe.
The LBD is a staple in going out at night. It is very rare you miss the mark with that dress. So many options are available to pair with it. I love when people pair with heavy boots or a make sandal because it really sets the tone of who you’re going to be. You can classy and boogie with a tote bag or edgy and dark with the heavy boots. Who are you with your LBD?
