5 Cities and Towns to Visit in California

California is a state full of sights, fun, and entertainment. There are many cities and towns to stop and enjoy, whether you are on the northern side of California or the Southern. California has a lot to offer not only in regards to sights but in history as well. There is an abundance of things to do no matter what mood you are in that day. If you are looking to celebrate an anniversary, a birthday, have a day trip or relax, look no further than the golden state of California! Here are five cities and towns to visit in California.

Napa

If you are twenty-one and up, Napa’s wineries are a great choice to visit for an anniversary or birthday outing with friends. You can tour one of Napa’s fruitful vineyards and have a wine tasting. If you want to spend the day relaxing, the Napa Wine Train offers wine and scenery to appease anyone. The Wine Train offers gourmet food as you venture through 100 of Napa’s best wineries. After your visit, there is a gift shop to commemorate your memorable stay on the wine train. However, if you are looking for something fun for children, make a stop at the Sonoma Train Town Railroad. There are rides and a petting zoo for kids. There is a mini train that will take you and your kiddos around the park. If you are looking for more to do, or maybe some form of sightseeing, the petrified forest offers an interesting day trip experience. You can see the largest petrified trees in the world. When you are done spending the day in the forest, be sure to stop by the gift shop to purchase unique souvenirs. Napa has a lot to offer couples, friends, and families alike.

San Diego

San Diego has a lot to offer for families and individuals. There are family trips such as Sea World that create fun memories filled with sea creatures, learning, games, and a play area. During certain times of the year, a fireworks show is available for park guests. Feed dolphins, touch rays, starfish, and learn all about the sea creatures of our oceans. San Diego also offers historic fun. Visit the USS Midway Museum and take a walk in the surrounding area to see restaurants and other venues. Throughout the walkways are sculptures and information about the Navy and USS midway. Balboa Park is another place to experience while staying in San Diego. There are a lot of trees, vegetation, and walk paths. On top of the beautiful scenery Balboa Park offers, there are places to eat, shop, or visit the animals nearby in the San Diego Zoo. Visit the beaches and take in a beautiful sunset or check out the lively nightlife. Either way, San Diego has many little treasures to enjoy and experience, whether you are going as a family or spending time with friends.

San Francisco

San Francisco is chock-full of history, but it also provides fun for many ages. Ride a ferry and get a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Watch sea lions rest on nearby rocks, get a bite to eat at any of the many locations available. If you are interested in seeing some celebrities, then be sure to check out the wax museum as it has life-like creations of celebrities and major film scenes. Catch a ride on a cable car, get some gifts at shops, and of course, visit the infamous Alcatraz Island. Get a tour of the island that is best known for its prison. The movie Shawshank Redemption is based on the island. Visit and have a tour to see where some of the biggest criminals were imprisoned from 1934 to 1963. If you are looking to enjoy some time with the kids, San Francisco has the Aquarium of the Bay. The Aquarium is based on local sea inhabitants, neighboring river creatures, and watersheds up to the Sierras. The Aquarium of the Bay is a great educational experience for children and adults alike. Visit San Francisco for fun, historic education, and more.

Los Angeles

Los Angeles, also known as the city of angels has a lot of sights to see. There is amusement, shopping, and a lot of places to take photos. Check out Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm for day trips with family or friends. Other sights to take in is Hollywood Boulevard, the Hollywood Sign, Rodeo Drive, Santa Monica Pier, the museum of art, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Shopping, hunting for Hollywood stars with your favorite actor’s names, take in the beaches, and food at the Santa Monica pier. Stop to take pictures in front of Gromens theater or watch impersonators walk the streets and take photos with visitors. Another fun trip would be touring the Warner Bros lot. Drive around and take pictures of sets from your favorite films and shows; you may even get lucky and catch some celebrities’ onset or see filming in progress. Take the family to see Mickey and friends or send them to Hogwarts in Universal Studios. Either way, Los Angeles has a lot to offer that cannot be experienced in just a day!

Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is on the border of Nevada and California. During the winter, you can be sure to find some adorable cabins with snow and skiing. There are a lot of resorts to choose from, such as Squaw Valley, Northstar California Resort, Alpine Meadows, Diamond Peak Ski Resort, and more. You can also visit Emerald Bay State Park to take in the beautiful scenery. Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place to view in the winter or when there is snow, but it is just as beautiful without snow.
