So keep reading to find out our favourite cider recipes that will have you sipping on them all summer long!
So let’s start with a more basic recipe to kick things off courtesy of ‘All recipes’. Plain old apple cider. It’s an oldie but it’s a goodie and there’s a reason why it’s a classic. For this recipe, you will only need 3/4 cups of sugar, some ground cinnamon, some ground allspice and ten apples. Cut the apples into quarters and heat them up in a large pot with water. Make sure the apples are covered by at least two inches of water. Stir in the sugar, cinnamon, allspice and leave to boil uncovered for one hour. Cover the pot and simmer for two hours before straining the mixture through a sieve. Throw out and apple chunks and then sieve again before refrigerating until it is at your optimum temperature. Serve and enjoy with friends!
‘Dine, dream, discover’ have developed this delicious sweet and tangy cocktail that will make you feel like you are spending your summer on a tropical island instead of just out in your back garden! For this one you will need 0.5 triple sec (an orange-based liqueur), 1 oz of vodka, 2 ounces of chardonnay, 3 ounces of apple raspberry cider (any brand), some rosemary and ice. Grab a cocktail shaker and mix up the triple sec, vodka, chardonnay, cider and ice for about 20 seconds. Strain the liquid into a glass and garnish with rosemary to serve. It’s such a quick and easy recipe and is perfect to whip up if you’re having friends over!
This recipe is super simple and you will be able to make it in a snap. You will need one cup of fresh or frozen berries, some water, a bottle of sparkling apple cider and some extra fresh berries for garnish. In a blender add the blackberries and one tablespoon of water and blend together until it becomes a puree. Fill glasses with ice and then scoop in a generous helping of the blackberry puree before adding the apple cider. Stir to bring the flavours together and then garnish with the fresh berries for an elegant finish to the drink. Thanks to Heather Christo for this one!
Jamie Oliver has dropped this amazing recipe for a really delicious mulled cider. It easy and fast to make but tastes great and will add a little extra heat to your summer! All you need is two litres of traditional cider (whatever brand you prefer), six cloves, some nutmeg, a cinnamon stick, a vanilla pod, a pomegranate, caster sugar, some orange juice, two clementines and three to four star anise. Heat the cider in a large pan on a low heat, add the juices, spices and bring to a boil. Then turn down the heat and gently summer for about 5 minutes. Add in the sugar to taste and serve in glasses while still warm to keep you cosy even in the cooler summer evenings.
