The holiday season is here, and that typically means shitty desserts. But before you resort to purchasing a store bought cake, I wanted to remind you of all the superior bakers out there. These cakes are meant to be looked at from afar, not made by a layperson or eaten by a layperson. Put simply, they are restricted to the baking gods. Without further ado, here are ten Christmas themed cakes that will blow you away.
This cake was executed to perfection. Yes, it is easier to mold cartoonish figures, but the penguins could audition for stop motion animation, and the tree is intricately crafted to include bits of snow. The cake may lack extravagance, but it makes up for its simplicity with utter perfection. I honestly can’t pinpoint one flaw on this cake. The choice to add penguins instead of elves or reindeer was also interesting.
I realize that this isn’t actually a cake, but it’s just so adorable I had to add it to the list. These cupcakes too are made with cartoonish figures, but they’re infused with color. I’m glad that this cake didn’t restrict itself with a red and green color scheme, because the splash of diverse colors is by far the most salient quality. My one complaint is that the elves faces could have been more detailed. To my knowledge, elves have noses.
This cake is simply superlative. In my humble opinion, no other cake on this list is quite on par with it in aesthetic appeal. I love the blend of white and brown in the second layer as well as the shimmering bows that complete the look. In addition, the brown, green, red, and white color scheme is beautiful, and the elves are adorable as elves should be. In all honesty, this cake is just too stunning to eat.
Although I prefer the look of the previous cake with its bold color palette, this next cake isn’t far behind. Of all the Christmas themed cakes on this list, this cake has the most ornate snowflakes and the most detailed figures. Really every aspect of this cake was made with the most assiduous detail. I can hardly get over the arrangement of the snowflakes on top as they descend downward. However, I do wish that this Christmas themed cake had a bit more color. Overall, I can admit it’s more impressive than the previous one though.
While Santa’s bulbous eyes are a bit distracting, this cake is still a delicious masterpiece. I love the admixture of brown and red to present a chocolate north pole. The chaotic spiraling mountain I think actually adds to the cartoonish quality of this cake. Additionally, there are so many creative details. From the skiing reindeer to the rolling cookies, this cake is more than just a delectable treat. I do wish that Santa and his disciples had a bit more expression in their faces though. Otherwise, this cake is gorgeous.
This next addition is devoid of any elves or Santas, however, it is a paragon of bold simplicity. The simple red and white color scheme is eye catching and beautifully paired with stunning designs. I can’t get over the dripping fondant that circles around the entire cake. Out of the Christmas themed cakes on this list, it’s the most simplistic but also one of the most aesthetically pleasing.
This renegade rebels against the traditional red and green. The dripping fondant returns joined with faint streaks of pink surrounding the cake. Speaking of pink, this cake has to be one of the pinkest Christmas themed cakes of all time. As if the pink gingerbread house, pink rock candy, and pink candy canes weren’t enough, this Pinterest user decided to add a pink stand. Moreover, gold flakes are scattered about the cake to complete the look. If it wasn’t for the major predominance of pink, this cake would be the most aesthetically appealing on this list. However, it’s still entrancing.
I wanted to add a more comical treat to the list. Comical doesn’t necessarily mean funny though. I don’t know if I quite understand the joke. At first, I thought it was sexually suggestive, but now I’m not quite sure what the insinuation is. Irrespective, the detail is still incredible. The bags of apples and the bubbles were great additions. And the hot tube rules sign is somewhat funny. Plus, Rudolph’s rolling eyes are the right way to convey emotion through facial expression.
These elves are markedly the best out of all the Christmas themed cakes on this list. The round buttoned noses are still cartoonish but tread on some degree of realism. The fondant hair is also meticulously molded and the eyes gleam with innocent curiosity. The curls in the ginger hair are cartoonish but for me stand out as the focal point. Also, the facial expressions are the best on this list, especially the inquisitive eyes of the blonde elf.
I wanted to end this list with a Christmas themed cake with some religious undertones. The blue and yellow was an interesting combination. What’s more, whether the bow is edible or not, it was a nice touch. I especially like the round, cartoonish heads and the tiny noses. The creator even went as far as to add a container of glue and scissors. Again, I do like facial expression, and this cake is definitely lacking in emotion, but regardless it’s undeniably stunning. Not only is it delicious, but it is truly divinely inspired.
