10 Christmas Movies To Get You In The Holiday Mindset

The holidays are fast approaching and there is no better way to get in the holiday mindset quite like watching some good Christmas movies. Of course, some channels are flooded with Christmas movies the second Thanksgiving is over or December begins, but finding some of your favorites is a great way to start feeling the Christmas spirit.

1. Home Alone

Home Alone is one of the most commonly known Christmas movies for all ages. When Kevin wants his family to disappear, he is surprised when he wakes up and they went on vacation without him. With holidays being a mess at the airports, Kevin is stuck on his own to fend for himself, especially against the two criminals after his house. He develops plan after plan to protect himself and his house against these two men, and leave us laughing with prank after prank on them. Home Alone is a Christmas movie for anyone of any age, and it really never gets old!

2. A Charlie Brown Christmas

Charlie Brown gives us specials for just about every holiday, and Christmas is no exception. A Charlie Brown Christmas is a classic that is a must-watch movie for the month of December. Charlie is experiencing depression regardless of the fact that Christmas is around the corner, and his friends are determined to make him feel better. Linus reminds Charlie what Christmas is all about, and helps everyone else realize they were being too hard on Charlie Brown.

3. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

National Lampoon has given us plenty of movies to laugh along with, so of course a Christmas vacation had to be included in this list. The Griswold family is determined to have a good ole fashioned family Christmas together, regardless of any circumstances that may come along. We all know that plenty of unfortunate circumstances come along and Clark, the dad, struggles to keep his cool and hold onto his positive attitude. Adventure after adventure is one of the main reasons we love to watch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation!

4. The Polar Express

After becoming skeptical of whether or not Santa Clause is real, a young boy boards The Polar Express. He makes a few friends along the way, and they are off on their journey to the North Pole. Along the way, they have song and dance, ticket problems, and train issues, but they arrive to see the North Pole. The boy meets Santa and discovers the magic of Christmas. He returns home excited for Christmas morning with his faith in Santa Clause returned.

5. The Santa Clause

When Scott, father to Charlie, wants his young son to believe in Santa Clause, regardless of not believing in him himself, he is left with a huge surprise. Santa Clause falls off the roof of their house on Christmas night and dies, leaving Scott to accidentally take over his position as Santa. Over the next year, he transforms into Santa Clause, while trying to avoid this transformation. He eventually accepts it for what it is and sets off to be the best Santa Clause for all the kids!

6. How The Grinch Stole Christmas!

The Grinch is a grouchy creature who lives at the top of a very steep hill, hating Christmas and everything about Whoville. He develops a plan to ruin their Christmas celebrations, but is interrupted by Cindy Lou Who, who despite everyone’s stories, isn’t scared of the Grinch. She actually likes him and wants to be friends, and even ends up getting him to come to Whoville for all the celebrations.

7. Noelle

After Santa Clause has a very untimely death, his son Nick struggles to take over the responsibilities that come with being Santa. His sister, Noelle, encourages him and even tells him to take a break for the weekend, but he doesn’t return the following week. Noelle sets off to find her brother so that their cousin doesn’t take over as the new Santa Clause. She sets out on a journey to get her brother to return so Christmas won’t be ruined.

Coming from a dream world, her friend can’t understand how some people are rude in the real world. More friends find their way out of the snowglobe and into Angela’s life, so they go back, but get stuck when the snowglobe is knocked over. She has to find a way out for her own sanity after she soon becomes annoyed with this dream world.

9. Unaccompanied Minors

With a bunch of underage kids traveling alone for the holidays, a group of kids become friends after all flights are delayed due to the blizzard. They are all sent to the unaccompanied minor’s room but sneak out. When learning that one of the kid’s little sister will not receive a present on Christmas morning, ruining her belief in Santa Clause, they set out to keep this from happening.
