If you’re one of the many who cannot resist some good chocolate dessert recipes for parties, holidays, or just to have on reserve for when your sweet tooth kicks in then proceed with caution. These are some incredibly delicious chocolate desserts that will make you second guess your diet for the new year. You might need some serious self-control to stop yourself from devouring these desserts in one or two days. Here are 10 chocolate dessert recipes so good that you’ll wish you never tried them!

1. Mississippi Mud Cake

This is a tasty chocolate cake recipe that’s easy to make and looks delicious. It’s fairly straightforward in terms of ingredients for a typical cake such as butter, chocolate, sugar, eggs, flour and more. You’ll also add some pecans for some added flavor and crunch! While the cake is baking it’s a good time to whip up the homemade chocolate frosting. Heat up butter, milk, and cocoa in a saucepan for a few minutes, then turn up the heat slightly and bring the mixture to a boil. Only let it boil for about a minute then take it off the stovetop. Mix in and whisk powdered sugar and vanilla to make a delicious and smooth chocolate frosting! After the cake is done baking, you cover the top of it with lots of marshmallows and heat them till soft to take this cake to the next level and truly make it one of the most irresistible chocolate dessert recipes you’ve made!

The name of this cake accurately reflects just how good it tastes. Adding Oreo to chocolate dessert recipes almost guarantees them to be delicious and amazing. This recipe for the Oreogasm poke cake is pretty easy to make and should only take you about 45 minutes. The essence of a “poke cake” is that you’ll make a chocolate cake per following the instructions & ingredients from its box. Next, you’ll poke holes in the cake with the bottom of a wooden spoon, for example, and use the marshmallow creme and water mix, combined with the Oreo bits of course, and pour it all over the cake and fill the holes. Then, make a homemade whipped cream frosting and cover with many more Oreos and drizzle with a chocolate sauce for amazing chocolate & Oreo dessert.

It’s an easy recipe that just takes a while to prepare because you have to wait for certain parts of it to cool for a while. You’ll start the trifle off with prepared brownies that have been drizzled with Kahlua. If you don’t have Kahlua or prefer something else, the recipe also recommends you can use four tablespoons of strong brewed coffee & one teaspoon of sugar for a substitute! You’ll have some brownie as the bottom layer, then the prepared chocolate pudding, then your whipped topping and repeat! Once you get to the top layer then cover with some crushed candy bars or Oreos, and you have a delicious chocolate trifle dessert!

The combination of chocolate and peppermint buttercream will have you devouring this cake before it’s even fully cooled. This recipe uses regular devil’s food cake mix but shows you how to make the chocolate ganache and the peppermint buttercream. If you’re wondering, a ganache is a glaze or whipped filling of chocolate and cream! Unfortunately, the green coloring of the peppermint buttercream comes from food coloring, which makes it look great but it’s not a natural color so it is optional if you prefer it without!

This recipe for the ultimate dark chocolate brownies isn’t too difficult to make and will only take about two hours tops, including cool time! Unlike typical brownies, this recipe utilizes bourbon and espresso granules for some great rich flavors. You don’t want to miss out on these fudgy dark chocolate brownies that everyone will love.

6. Nutella-Stuffed Cookies

It’s hard enough to say no to Nutella in general so combining it with cookies is some dangerous territory for chocolate dessert recipes. This cookies recipe will make your friends and family think twice about whether or not you are a professional pastry chef after taking one bite. To make these cookies you’ll simply freeze some balls of Nutella while you make the dough. Then, wrap and cover the frozen Nutella balls with the dough and bake them for about 15 minutes! An easy and cheap interesting cookie recipe that you won’t soon forget.

One of the more complicated chocolate dessert recipes, you’ll find this absolutely delicious chocolate mousse cake is worth every second. The recipe gives you the instructions for both the homemade cake and the chocolate mousse! You’ll get a velvety chocolate cake that compliments the rich chocolate mousse very well. Then for the third layer of chocolate for this cake, you’ll make a chocolate ganache to spread over the top. Garnish with some fresh berries that will add some sweet and slightly acidic flavors to this very rich chocolate dessert!

8. Hot Fudge Cheesecake Bars

Chocolate dessert recipes that utilize an Oreo crust are dangerous for healthy diets. This recipe is for hot fudge cheesecake bars that make a delicious dessert perfect for any occasion. The Oreo crust consists of 24 crushed Oreos, butter, and a pinch of kosher salt. Press it into a pan and then pour in the chocolate cheesecake & hot fudge sauce mixture. Bake for about 40 minutes to where it’s only “slightly jiggly” then refrigerate for about 3 hours to possibly overnight just to be safe. What makes them so delicious is their use of two-tier chocolate of unsweetened baking chocolate and semisweet baking chocolate mixed into the batter. The homemade frosting is made of semisweet chocolate morsels, butter, powdered sugar, whipping cream, vanilla extract, and a dash of salt to make a delicious topping for these cupcakes.

It’s only appropriate to end this list of delicious chocolate dessert recipes with one named “Death by Chocolate.” This dessert is a combination of moist chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, chocolate crumbles, and a fresh, homemade whipped cream. To assemble the layers you’ll take your chocolate cake and cut through the middle of it to make two halves. Place one onto your baking dish and spread half your chocolate pudding across it. Then, spread half of your homemade whipped cream on top of the pudding and sprinkle with half of your chocolate crumble. Repeat this process again for a second layer and for an absolutely delicious, and chocolate-packed dessert!
