Working from home? There’s playlists that can make the transition of commuting to work, to working in your living room a little better. At some jobs, we can’t even listen to music while we work. So, let’s take this time to listen to some chill playlists if we want to, while working from home. In between Zoom calls, while making your morning coffee, or what ever your WFH routine may be – these Spotify playlists are here to bring some music into your day!
The playlist, “Guilty Pleasures,” created by Spotify, is guaranteed to have you singing along while you’re powering through what you are working on for the day. Not every song on this playlist is as soft as Jack Johnson’s “Banana Pancakes” or as rockin’ as Journey’s “Any Way You Want It.” But, that’s what’s so great about it. There’s a mix of all music genres, throwbacks and catchy songs from your past years that are worth listening to over and over again. Queue “Lucky” by Britney Spears on your at home lunch break, and “Walking On Sunshine” when the work day is over and it’s time for happy hour.
You might have listened to a podcast or playlist on your train ride into work. Even though you might not be commuting anymore, you can still start your day with a commute playlist while you prepare your work for the day. Spotify’s “Morning Commute” playlist is a combination of indie-rock, folk, soul, pop, R&B, and country jams that give you a relaxed vibe on your way to work (to your couch or desk with your laptop.) Kacey Musgraves, Michael Kiwanuka, and Hozier are just a few artists featured on this playlist.
I think we could all use some stress free, happy songs to listen to during this time. The playlist “Totally Stress Free” on Spotify, is one of the best playlists I have found for any time of the day. The songs featured on this playlist are especially perfect for when you just need some chill, easy listening to get you through your last hour of work. From new Mandy Moore, to classics such as “Ooh La La” by Faces, there is a mix of calm, soft rock, and upbeat songs on “Totally Stress Free.”
You’re not going on a road trip, but you should still revisit classic songs while you’re working from home. Spotify’s “Mellow Classics” has the most beloved songs extending from the decades of the 1950’s-1990’s. Everything from, Louis Armstrong’s “Summertime”, Tracey Chapman’s “Fast Car” to The Eagles “Take It Easy.” You can find yourself singing along to these songs while you’re trying to finish up work for the day.
If you haven’t listened to this playlist yet created by Spotify, it’s worth checking out. “Unwind 00s” reminds me of listening to the radio on car rides, soundtrack hits from movies, and the popular songs you listened to from past summers. With a mix of bands like MGMT, The Goo Goo Dolls, and No Doubt, you have a variety of music and the best throwback hits you might just need to listen to again while you’re working from home.
The name of this playlist may make it sound like it’s not as chill of a playlist to listen to while you’re working from home, but it totally is. Found on Spotify, “Pumped Pop” has various songs to get your day going. Some songs may be a little bit more upbeat than others, but depending on how boring work is that day, you may need some louder tunes to help motivate you and accomplish all the work you need to. Or, you may just need to a playlist to listen to while you get your work together for the day and make breakfast. This playlist shares a ton of songs from different artists and bands, such as Robyn, Maroon 5, Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, Jon Bellion, and more.
Some shows and movies can remind us of a lot of great songs. The “Friends Rewind” playlist obviously features their theme song “I’ll Be There For You” by The Rembrandts, but as it says in the playlist’s bio, it is a playlist full of songs from the time the show Friends came out on TV. “Friends Rewind” features TLC, Outkast, Christina Aguilera, Spice Girls and more. Since you’re working from home, you can totally sing these 90’s and 00’s jams at the same time.
Another playlist created by Spotify? Yes. “Hanging Out And Relaxing” is a laid-back, easy listening playlist that is definitely worth listening to when you’re not working from home too. If you need to listen to some music to put you in a chill, spring / summer vibe, put on Geowulf’s “Saltwater” or “Sedona” by Houndmouth. Or, discover some new songs released this year from this playlist.
Sometimes we need minimal or no lyrics and just instruments to listen to. “Peaceful Piano” is a playlist curated of beautiful songs played on the piano. This Spotify playlist makes for a calm and relaxing afternoon, while you’re working from home. Hit shuffle and listen to a mixture of piano pieces that can soothe your work day.
Yes, these Spotify playlists are chill and can help the WFH part of the day go by quicker, and “Relax & Unwind” does that too. This playlist, like the rest, features incredible artists and bands from different genres of music. And, all the powerful voices that you hear in songs like “River” by Leon Bridges can really help you unwind and relax when you’re working from home. All artists and bands featured on “Relax & Unwind,” such as James Bay, and Mumford & Sons share music that can calm our souls and ease the work day.
