15 Chicago Landmarks You Need To Visit At Least Once

Taking a weekend trip to the windy city? Chicago is home to some pretty incredible landmarks for all to enjoy. Landmarks range from the famous Bean to the historical Chicago Theater, there is so much to do and see. To help you make the most of your visit, here is a list of the top 15 Chicago landmarks.

1. Navy Pier

Peer out into Lake Michigan along the 3,300 foot long Navy Pier! With so many attractions to take part in, you can spend hours of fun at the pier. Attractions include summer fireworks, indoor ice skating in the winter, several rides including the newly renovated Ferris wheel, the beautiful Crystal Gardens botanicals, and more!

2. The Bean/Cloud Gate

Arguably one of Chicago’s most popular landmarks, The Bean in Millennium Park is the perfect opportunity to amp up your Instagram game. Truly a unique piece of art, you could spend all day looking at your reflection.

3. The Art Institute

Before you even step foot into the Art Institute, take a look at the ever so popular lion statues. These two guys have been guarding the Art Institute since 1983. On the inside of the museum, discover some of the world’s most famous paintings including A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by George Seurat and American Gothic by Grant Wood.

4. Willis Tower Skydeck

Looking for adventure? Stop by the western hemisphere’s second tallest building and head up to floor 103 and dare to step into one of the clear observation boxes. 1,353 feet above Chicago, It is one of the best Chicago landmarks by far.

5. Lincoln Park Zoo

If you are on a budget, head to the north side and check out the free admission Lincoln Park Zoo. Famous for a large variety of animal exhibits, this landmark never ceases to bore. Stop by in the winter to experience the majestic light displays!

6. Wrigley Field

Home to the 2016 World Series champions, catch a Cubs game at Wrigley Field! This field has been around for over 100 years.

7. Soldier Field

With majestic views of the city, Soldier Field hosts a variety of events. From Bears games to concerts, Soldier Field is always a good time.

8. Maggie Daley Park

Located in the loop area, Maggie Daley Park features beautiful landscaping, a garden to honor cancer survivors, and more. In the winter, it truly is a wonderland with an ice skating ribbon for all.

9. Buckingham Fountain

In the center of Grant Park, the Buckingham Fountain is quite grand. Make a quick stop to check out daily water shows and night light shows. This fountain was also modeled after the Latona Fountain at Versailles and is like a little piece of France in Chicago!

10. North Avenue Beach

Looking to cool off by the lake? North Avenue beach is one of the most popular Lake Michigan beaches and Chicago landmarks, with tons to do! From beach volleyball to dipping your toes in the water, this is the place to be on a hot summer day.

11. Crown Fountain

One of Millennium Park’s most popular landmarks, the Crown Fountain is an interactive piece of art to cool off by. The fountain features two glass brick towers which often display videos, as well as a reflecting pool that the towers spout water into.

12. The Chicago Theatre

Built in 1921, The Chicago Theatre has been hosting a variety of live shows and music for all. One of the most historical Chicago landmarks is hard not to miss with its grand marquee, perfect for a photo opt.

13. The Shedd Aquarium

Chicago’s home to sea creatures, The Shedd Aquarium is a fun landmark to visit and explore. The aquarium is home to many animals including rare Pacific White-Sided Dolphins, jelly fish exhibits, and Beluga Whales.

14. Jay Pritzker Pavillion

One of Millennium Park’s popular venues, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion hosts a variety of events. In the summer you can catch events such as musical acts, movies, and yoga gatherings.

15. Chicago Riverwalk

Located along the south bank of the Chicago River, the Chicago Riverwalk is the place to be for a scenic stroll. The Riverwalk is also home to some great dining and activities.
