1. Movies in the Park
Switch up a classic movie and dinner date this summer by taking advantage of the many free showings in the city’s gorgeous parks. The calendar for this year’s schedule is already available, and it showcases everything from Disney movies to foreign films.
2. Zoo
The zoo is a great date for any animal lover out there. There are two in the Minneapolis area, and the Como zoo is open year round, close to campus, and free. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon.
3. Hiking
This is the perfect activity for an outdoorsy couple. Minnehaha Falls is gorgeous to visit any time of the year with its frozen waterfall in the winter and its lush green trails in the summer. The Stone Arch Bridge is also a great gorgeous place to take a walk with its view of the Minneapolis skyline. Snap a few pictures and remember the place where it all started!
4. Comedy Show
Try something new and have a few laughs along the way! Acme has free open mic nights on Monday nights that are always entertaining to visit. If you’re feeling ballsy, take a turn on stage and show off for your date.

Try ice skating or rollerblading! The Depot Ice Rink is open all winter and it is gorgeous at night. Otherwise, the Roller Garden offers fun rollerblading with an 80s vibe.

Minneapolis is one of the most bike friendly cities in the US. NiceRide bikes are available for rent throughout the city and are super convenient. If you’re feeling fancy, pick up a tandem bike and bike around the Lake Calhoun area. Definitely a super sweet date idea!

Try your hand at winning a huge stuffed animal and living out that romcom life. Even if you don’t succeed, the arcade is still a really fun and exciting date idea. Up-Down in Minneapolis opened not long ago and it has all the old-school classics that you know and love.
