While Miranda from ‘Lizzie McGuire’ totally trumps this list, we did our best to limit it to celebs who are more legitimately a-list. But what do Miranda, Stevie Nicks, and Kim Possible all have in common? Um, well, the fact they kinda made us all a little gay.
The below list meets narrower criteria or else we legit could have been here forever – but here are the celebs who are; 1. real, 2. well-known, and 3. totally made us gay af.
Angelina Jolie in ‘Tomb Raider’, Angelina Jolie in ‘Mr. & Mrs. Black’, Angelina Jolie in…pretty much everything?
Once upon a time, Angelina Jolie was once hailed as the Most Beautiful Woman Alive, and she still god damn is. No matter what Kim K has done for fat-ass body positivity, we all remember the OG in 2000’s Hollywood sex symbols, and Jolie was it. Combined with her cargo shorts and kick-ass action movies, there was no way we couldn’t fall in love!
The OG weird girl of the ’90s, Winona Ryder has owned our hearts for decades. From her bob days in ‘Heathers’ to the blonde hair of ‘Edward Scissorhands’, and on to the pixie cut we all love from ‘Girl, Interrupted’ – Winona Ryder is a style icon for the ages. Her slightly grunge aesthetics vibe well with lesbian fashions, and her return to our lives as Joyce Byers (‘Stranger Things’) totally embodies everything we love about Winona Ryder.
Talk about gay (or bi) energy. Sarah Paulson has been killing it onscreen in ‘American Horror Story’ in so many different ways. From crazy mf to the good witch of the ‘Coven’ season, and all the way back to her badass character in ‘Asylum’. There’s a lot to love about Miss Paulson, and she undeniably stirs the gay energies whenever she’s on screen.
Megan Fox is criminally underrated – but girls who’ve seen her in ‘Jennifer’s Body’ know. Apart from being insanely hot – Megan Fox has totally been wronged by the media. After being dismissed as an air-headed sex symbol from a young age, her career took a few blows for being, um, a real person. And maybe media (and men) can’t handle a Megan Fox who’s more than looks, but lesbians know that Megan Fox is more than that – because she also makes a great gay-coded demon when she wants to.
While some of us nerds might think specifically of Cate Blanchett’s role as ‘Galadriel’ as our gay awakening, there’s also her character in ‘Carol’ that speaks very specifically to lesbians. And for most of us, it boils down to the fact that she always looks glamorous and is tall af.
Brie Larson was a relatively unknown celeb up until ‘Captain Marvel’ introduced to Carol Danvers, who introduced us to Larson. And we’ve all seen ‘Unicorn Store’, ‘Room’, and ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs The World’ – leading us to natural conclusion that Brie Larson has incredible acting chops, and also vibes with incessantly gay films (gay in energy, at least).
Whether you met Lucy Liu through her role in ‘Charlies Angels’, or as O-Ren in ‘Kill Bill’ – you know she’s a certified femme fatal. Lucy Liu is the kinda woman you stop and make heart eyes, and her onscreen roles definitely have us all falling in gay love over and over again.
Another ‘Marvel’ heroine, Tessa Thompson is a new-age heartthrob turning girls gay left right and centre. While that scene of her walking across the rainbow bridge in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ had us all gagged, we also totally vibe with her bi energy – and bi reality.
