While I certainly have nothing against people who choose to wear makeup on a daily basis, I am INCREDIBLY supportive of embracing your natural beauty by ditching makeup altogether.
Here are some of my celebrity idols who have done this and never looked more naturally beautiful!
Alicia Keyes was the first celebrity that I noticed to notably choose not to wear makeup. While she might not be the first celebrity to make this decision, she was simply the first one to have an impact on my own life. After watching her as a judge on The Voice, I was amazed by the natural glow of her makeup free (or nearly makeup free) skin. I feel that she is a major force in the “natural beauty” movement, and I support her doing so all the way.
Demi Lovato is the queen of makeup free selfies. Being that she is known for posting a #nomakeupselfie every Monday on her Instagram page, there is no doubt that she is dedicated to showing off her natural, unedited beauty! I applaud her for her courage to spread awareness and prove that everyone is beautiful without the need for any sort of enhancement in terms of makeup products or Instagram filters!
Bella Thorne is one of the first celebrities that comes to mind when thinking of stars who embrace their own natural beauty. She loves being able to sport a fresh face any moment she gets, and speaks out on believing that makeup is an accessory, not a necessity. Bottomline, Bella Thorne has never been afraid to stay true to herself and being makeup free is yet another way she’s been able to embrace it.
Lady Gaga is a celebrity who I have always admired for always moving to the beat of her own drum, regardless of what the crowd is doing. While she is admirable for so many different things, I love that she is not afraid to embrace her raw, makeup-less self in any way when it comes to her public appearance. While Lady Gaga has her fair share of times when she’s sported incredibly unique fashion and makeup choices on certain occasions, being able to still love herself and show off her flawless natural features is something that makes me really respect her as an individual.
When it comes to REAL celebrities who appear just as personable and real on camera as they do as a person, Chrissy Teigen certainly stands out amongst the rest. She is such an inspiration in terms of not being afraid to show who she is, and what she thinks, and I think that showcasing her own natural beauty (specifically by not wearing makeup) goes right along with this. Being that a common reason behind people wearing makeup is that they want to appeal to the masses or stand out in a crowd, Chrissy Teigen is the prime example that this is NOT necessary. If you simply enjoy doing your makeup and feel more confident with it, that’s one thing, but take it from Chrissy and never feel like you need to do something just to impress others!
Miley Cyrus is yet another celebrity that is not afraid to be anything other than her own true self, which is something I look up to her for. From chopping off her hair to often choosing not to wear makeup, Miley Cyrus has never been afraid to follow her own heart, without worrying about judgement from others. After going through such extreme changes in her personal style from her initial rise to fame to now, there is no question that Miley Cyrus is a natural (often makeup free) beauty through and through.
I have grown up watching America’s Next Top Model, and I have certainly seen Tyra Banks’ fair share of fashion statements. This being said, I cannot help but say that her natural, bare-skin look is my ultimate favorite. Being that Banks is viewed as such an influential figure in the world of fashion and beauty, I think that her stance on going makeup free is all that much more impactful in such a positive way.
