As much as we all love Halloween, sometimes we don’t want to show up to class in our full costumes because it feels a little silly. If you still want to dress up for class but you don’t want to feel ridiculous, check out these casual Halloween costumes you can totally wear to class!
This costume is super casual but the nice thing is you can totally dress it up more if you want to. Throw it back it back to the good old days when MTV actually played music (don’t worry, I don’t remember those days, either) and dress like a teen from the 90s! If you’re more outgoing, you can pair this with bike shorts like these for a more authentic look, or you can totally just wear it with leggings. Maybe wear the leggings for class and rock the bike shorts for the party you go to! Throw on some sneakers, the chunkier the better, and put your hair in a half up ponytail with a scrunchie and you’re good to go! If you have a jean jacket, even better.

If you like Halloween but you have a lot going on that day or you’re really just not trying to dress up for class but want to have a little spirit, why not dress up like an employee from your favorite clothing store? While browsing Forever21’s site, I saw this shirt and realized how easy it would be to make this into a costume. Simply pair this shirt with a pair of jeans and whatever shoes you want and you’re all set. If you want to be a little more extra, try and find something resembling a headset.

Ever wondered if you could pull off the Insta Baddie look? Why not give it a try for Halloween? Just think, those women dress this way ever day, so even though it’s out of your comfort zone, it’s not totally out there! This is a great costume if this is really different than what you normally wear because the people who see you every day will recognize the difference but no one else will think anything’s out of the ordinary. Maybe you can even raid a friend’s closet and do it for free! Basically you just want to do really polished make up with a dramatic but neutral eye, nude lips, some sort of crop top, distressed jeans, and sneakers. There are a lot of variations of this look but this seems the most common!

If you’re looking for something that’s a little more of a costume, this is a good pick for you because you can really play it up. Channel your inner child and dress the way you used to dress as a kid! For a lot of us, that means bright colors and patterns that are usually a little too big because they’re hand me downs or we haven’t grown into them yet. Pair a shirt like this one with jeans and sneakers, throw your hair into braids or pigtails, grab some candy to carry with you, and you’re all set! It would be even better if you could manage to find some kind of toy to carry with you. Or maybe a juice box. The possibilities are endless! And after Halloween, you could totally wear this shirt as a sleep shirt.

You can get the iconic yellow plaid look Cher rocks at the start of the movie Clueless without having to go full out with the whole set. Wear just the blazer with a white shirt and either a skirt or jeans. If you’re wearing the skirt, consider wearing knee high white socks for more of the Cher effect. Throw in a few “as ifs” and random vocabulary words throughout the day to really sell it. The best part is you could totally be Cher at a Halloween party with the whole look and just style the blazer during the day for a more dressed down look! This is a great costume if you’re trying to do a costume with your friend since they can be Dion, and they can also dress down their costume during the day! Though it might be hard for them to find a hat like hers.

Looking for a funnier costume? Why not dress as every college kid’s go-to meal? This Ramen shirt is so funny but also really cute, and totally perfect for the most casual look ever. Style it however you want, and when people ask you what you’re supposed to be just point at your shirt! You can be extra and carry some ramen along all day, but I think people would get the point just from the shirt. This is probably the least costume-y costume on this list. The nice thing is this shirt can totally be worn again if you’re okay with repping Maruchan, or you can turn it into a pajama shirt.

If you’re trying to look super cute, dress up like an old school collegiate preppy kid. Throw on a cable knit sweater with a plaid skirt, or maybe try an oxford under a pullover if that’s more your style. Between your closet and your friends’ closets, you’re sure to be able to put this look together. Even though you’ll be a little dressier than normal, no one will even blink an eye since it’s not that uncommon a look.
