8 Carry-On Must Haves You Need When Traveling This Summer

Summer is a prime time for travelling, so many of you may be embarking on some pretty exciting, relaxing trips in the near future! Although the vacation itself can be super chill, getting there can be quite stressful if you don’t come adequately prepared. Luckily we’ve put together a great collection of carry-on must haves that every traveler, seasoned or newbie, should bring. Enjoy the following tips for carry-on must haves!

Have a good carry-on bag

This first one is not so much what’s in your bag, but the bag itself! It’s important to get a good, sturdy bag that can fit all of your needs without being too bulky or uncomfortable. I recommend getting a medium sized tote bag or a backpack to ensure hands-free travel.

Hand wipes or sanitizer

One word: GERMS. It’s no secret that airports and planes are pretty nasty, so why not come prepared. You’re going to be touching a whole lot of different things throughout your trip (and so is everybody else), so before you eat or touch your face, remember to clean your hands.

Makeup wipes

There’s nothing better before a long flight than wiping off your makeup and getting to relax with a fresh face. Makeup wipes are carry-on must haves if you want to sleep on your flight without wrecking your skin or if you want to start off with a fresh makeup application once you land.

Water and snacks

Let’s be honest here, airplane food leaves much to be desired. The best way to ensure that you’re eating fresh & yummy food on the flight is to bring your own snacks! Healthy snacks like almonds, berries and popcorn are great ways to snack on the plane without getting bloated. Also don’t forget your water as it’s easy to dehydrate when flying — just remember to buy it at the airport as you can’t bring water through security!

Jacket

With their constant air conditioning planes can get pretty chilly, making it often hard to sleep or get comfortable. I recommend bringing a super comfy jacket, pullover or sweatshirt for carry-on must haves on the plane, so it can double as a blanket.

Advil/travel sickness medicine

If you are anything like me, you know that travel sickness is REAL. There’s nothing worse than feeling nauseous or uncomfortable for a long period of time in a confined space with hundreds of strangers — trust me, it’s not ideal. Having Advil, Ibuprofen or any form of painkiller handy is a must.

Magazine or book

Reading is a great way to pass the time on a long flight or even to keep yourself entertained while you wait at the gate. Most airport shops have huge selections of magazines and novels, but you can always bring whatever reading material you have at home. There’s nothing like getting comfy in your seat and curling up with a captivating story or interesting editorial.

Headphones

Plug in your headphones and be instantly transported from the inside of a Southwest plane to a Post Malone concert or a Spanish beach with a quick click on Spotify. Headphones are a necessity practically everywhere you go, so a mind numbingly boring plane ride is no different!

Which of these carry-on must haves are you going to try? Let us know in the comments.
