Frequent travelers know that there are just some things you need to keep in your carry-on bag when you travel by plane. However, that doesn’t mean that these carry-on items aren’t applicable to other situations, whether you’re on a road trip, taking a train, or at an all-day event. Check out these must-have carry-on items for your next trip or your daily bag.
It’s always a good idea to have some sort of breath-freshener on your person. You never know when you’re going to meet someone for the first time or have a meal that leaves your breath smelling less-than-minty-fresh. If you’re on an airplane, gum helps to keep your ears from popping incredibly painfully.

You may already be the type of person who doesn’t leave home without a pair of earbuds, but if you’re not, you might want to be. Of course, earbuds are great if you want to listen to music, but they’re also fantastic if you’re having a phone conversation that you don’t want privy to eavesdroppers. Alternatively, if you’re on public transit and want to signal that you’re not interested in talking to people, pop in earbuds and most others should get the message.

This doesn’t mean cloth soaked in booze, just to be clear. These are sanitizing wipes you can toss in a bag and pull out when you feel the need to freshen up your digits or want to wipe off a small surface. Truthfully, these are some of the most useful carry-on items you can ever have at any given time, and it’s a guarantee that these will come in handy. The individually-wrapped wipes are so convenient to have around, so you might as well toss a few into every bag you own while you’re at it.

Again, you may be the type of person who always has these two essential carry-on items on their person, but if you’re not, you might want to jump on that bandwagon. Even if you don’t even up using them, chances are, someone else might need to and you’ll be glad you brought them. At this point in phone battery lifespans, it’s just smart to have this stuff on you for when your phone inevitably runs out of charge at the most inconvenient time. Just be sure to charge the charger ahead of time, otherwise, it’s essentially dead weight.

Honestly, there are so many uses for these, whether you get a scrape or a blister or need to hold a small hole in a seam shut. They take up practically no space once you remove them from the box they come in, so it’s really no hassle to add them to your bag. Plus, look at how adorable these bandages are!

This may be old-fashioned by now since most people write on their phones, but I find that it’s always handy to have a pen and at least a scrap of paper on me so I can write things down or doodle. Sometimes both. It’s great if you get bored, need to jot down a note or two or have a brilliant idea that you’d otherwise inevitably forget.

Even if you’re not on your period, it’s never a bad idea to have period products in your bag, just in case. You never know when you or someone else might need them, even if it’s for a different purpose than intended. Anyone else remember this iconic moment from “She’s The Man?”
