What is CBD? As the month of Marijuana rolls around there are a few questions. CBD oil is common for pain management as well as sleep management. Welcome to my TED talk.
April is just around the corner and lighters and grinders are already being purchased. But why?
420 or April 20th started off as a day of protest for people who were pro-legalization. The public gathers in popular spots to light up at 4:20. As we have a greater understanding of marijuana and the marijuana culture it has become a day of celebration.
Some popular spots include Ottawa, Ontario, at Parliament Hill and Major’s Hill Park, Montreal, Quebec, at Mount Royal monument, Edmonton, Alberta, at the Alberta Legislature Building, and Vancouver, British Columbia, at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
There are multiple foggy interpretations of the true origins of what is referred to as “weed day”. The term 420 started off as a police code for marijuana smoking in progress.
CBD is used as medicine, not as a “drug”. The FDA recently approved a purified form of CBD for some types of epilepsy, with the brand name Epidiolex.
Maybe you smoke once in a while or maybe you smoke every day. Cannabidiol (CBD) oil has become a hot new product.
Marijuana grows like a plant and as it grows it produces flowers and buds. These buds are what you normally see. A bud or a nug is what goes in the grinder to then roll or more commonly smoke from a bong.
Cannabidiol is then extracted from the plants and buds to make oil. CBD and THC are different as THC is the psychoactive part of Marijuana that produces the high.
There are actually a few other plants that also produce CBD but the most common is cannabis. CBD does not get you high.
The human body has an endocannabinoid system (ECS) that receives and translates signals from cannabinoids. It produces some cannabinoids of its own, which are called endocannabinoids.
The ECS helps to regulate functions such as sleep, immune-system responses, and pain.
THC affects your brains endocannabinoids and produces chemicals such as dopamine. Dopamine is the chemical in your brain that is responsible for transmitting signals. between the nerve cells in our brains.
CBD helps regulate pain by stopping the body from absorbing anandamide, a compound associated with regulating pain. It also limits inflammation in the brain. Most common uses are for arthritis pain, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain and treating seizures.
Now maybe you have realized that CBD won’t give you a fruity buzz followed by the munchies. That is THC. THC has been proven to have some health benefits as well as side effects. It is a psychoactive element but that does not mean that if you smoke a spliff you will start seeing things that may not be there.
Knowing how much THC your body can take is a key aspect of smoking. Greening out is when you have too much THC in our system and can lead to vomiting and blacking out. The idea that you can not get too high with Marijuana is a lie. You absolutely can.
HC affects things like thinking, memory, pleasure, movements, concentration, coordination, and sensory and time perception. This is one of the many reasons that you should never drive high.
