Do you love festivals? Are you interested in experiencing the unique events that are happening in your city? Well here you will find some of the top events occurring during the month of September. This list includes things like movies, food and even The Beatles! Here are 9 fun things to do in Toronto this September.
1. Love movies?
Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will premier more than 300 films from around the world. It starts on Sept. 8 and ends on Sept. 18.
2. Would you like to groove to urban music?
The Toronto Urban Roots Fest will entertain the city from Sept. 16 to Sept. 18. It will feature 44 artists. including James Bay, Jake Bugg, Lush, Whitehorse, Julia Jackline and so much more! Sadly, the event is not free and you will have to buy your tickets. Prices differ depending on what kind of ticket you are interested in.
3. Want to see Toronto make a move?
On Sept. 18, two city streets will be closed to encourage participation in physical activity and healthy recreation. The closure will occur on Bloor St. and Danforth Ave. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
4. Does traveling the world sound fun?
The 15th annual Small World Music Festival will begin on Sept. 15. The 10-day festival will bring international music together in Toronto, including the sounds of countries such as Mali, Korea, Cuba, Palestine, Ethiopia, Spain and many more!
5. Laughing should be everyone’s motto.
Just for Laughs (JFL42) presents an international comedy festival that will last 10 days. Starting on Sept. 22, the event will feature 42 “cool things” happening in the city as well as eight headlining performances from big names like Jim Gaffigan, Trevor Noah, Roseanne Barr and Chris D’Elia. This event is not free, so you will need to buy a pass to enter.
6. Is literacy your passion?
The Word on the Street will be held on Sept. 25. The book and magazine festival is designed to celebrate written word and literacy through an outdoor fair. There will be over 250 books and magazines outside!
7. Ever wanted to visit Germany?
The Toronto Oktoberfest is coming to Ontario Place on Sept. 30 and will last until Oct. 1. The event will be inspired by traditions that have started in Munich, Germany over 200 years ago. There will be authentic food, drinks and merriment.
8. Love The Beatles?
Throughout the entire month, you can look at rare photographs of The Beatles in a limited exhibition at The Market Gallery. “When The Beatles Rocked Toronto” honors the 50th anniversary of the band’s final concert in the city. There will be three recreation-modeled rooms that are focused on certain themes as well as pictures of old Toronto from the Yonge Street strip and Yorkville Village! Tickets are only $10.
9. Love animals?
Toronto’s Zoo has two Canadian panda cubs that you could meet! The male panda is Jia Panpan and the female is Jia Yueyue. The meet and greet is daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and on the weekends till 6 p.m. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience to meet our animals!
