For those who travel numerous times in a year but prefer to travel light, carry on luggages are the way to go. They are convenient and not only are your possessions easily accessible, you also don’t need to worry about potentially losing them during the flight! However, with all your essentials condensed in one bag, you also need to be certain that you are packing the right things. In other words, if you are travelling light, make sure you live up to it! Here is the ultimate carry on luggage list for all the frequent travellers or wanderlusts out there!

1. Clothing

Starting with the basics, prepare your outfits beforehand so you can maximize your looks when travelling. The pieces that you choose will obviously depend on where you’re gong but it also doesn’t hurt to have some standards to ensure versatility. For example, neutral coloured basics, jeans, light weight jackets, and runners are ideal go-to pieces that you should pack because they can easily be coordinated and are typically weather appropriate. Unless really necessary, avoid brining thick clothes such as chunky sweaters or puffy jackets. If you are planning to bring knits, be practical with the fabrics. Cashmere or merino wool pieces are warm but they also save on space.


2. Toiletries/Personal Care

Second to clothes, toiletries are obviously a must. Your destination may not have sufficient provisions for everyday hygiene care therefore you should pack as much toiletries as you can. The items you carry may also depend on how much you pamper yourself daily. For example, the ladies may also bring a small makeup kit or skin care products. Nonetheless, the basic toiletry products that you must have when travelling are: shampoo and conditioner, body wash or soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, sunscreen, deodorant, razors, tweezers, nail clippers, and hairbrush or comb.

3. Medication

When travelling to different places around the world, you are vulnerable to various germs and bacteria your body may not be accustomed to tackling, which could get you very sick. Should you be doing a lot of physical activities in your trip, you are also prone to bruises or injuries. Therefore, it is highly crucial to bring a mini first aid it in your carry on luggage. Basic essentials include painkillers, paracetamols, immodium, and antibiotics (prescribed by your physician). To treat wounds, you should bring betadine and bandages or plasters.


4. Technology

Apart from your phone which you must always have, technological gadgets are major necessities for those who are constantly on corporate trips, bloggers or influencers, and photographers. Because they are expensive, people typically put them in their carry on luggage. For those who are going to be doing significant writing, mini laptops or tablets are a must. For readers, you may consider bringing a Kindle Paperwrite unless you have a physical book that you specifically want to read. For those who are going to photo binge, your iPhone or android camera may suffice or bring a decent size DSLR camera (may depend on how professional you are with photography). Another key gadget is a multinational travel adapters because you know that you might need one wherever you will go.

If you have room to spare in your carry on luggage, then bring other items that you feel you may need to help your travel journey be smoother and a lot more convenient. For clothes, you may consider bringing your own (travel) hangers or even a light steamer if you are finicky. For personal care, you bring a hair straightener or curlers (for the ladies) or hair gel or wax (for the guys) if you constantly want your hair done. For medication, perhaps you may bring sleeping pills if you intend to attain some good sleep in the plane. Other technological gadgets, you may bring a power bank, USB, earphones, small speakers, or even a drone.
