Toronto, the city of dreams. I met you just two short years ago and I never knew that I would be so in love. Your beautiful city lights, your unique architecture, it all makes you special. I love watching you wake up in the morning before sunrise. Your lights are off, your streets are empty, all that is heard are the sounds of the birds chirping. Then slowly, but surely, you open your eyes and start to wake up. Your lights begin to turn on, your streets fill up, the bell from the streetcars take over and that is how I know you are ready to start your day.
You never cease to amaze me with all you have to offer. Your liveliness makes you exciting and always interesting. There is never a dull moment with you. Somehow, even on my worst days, I know that it could always be worse if I didn’t have you.
You are able to make people forget their troubles, forget their sadness, as you envelope them in your welcoming, inspiring, creative arms. You always give people things to do, your diversity brings about a unique kind of culture. A mixture of city life, and a quieter, more carefree lifestyle.
And no matter how big you get, you still can feel small; like you are a part of a unique community. A community that thrives on success, kindness, and understanding. A community that knows how to give space when you need it, but can also give you a warm hug on your bad days. But with this sense of community, this sense of family, you are still so vast and offer endless opportunity and adventure. There is so much to see and so much to do that all the time in the world would not be enough to experience it all.
So Toronto, my love, no matter the distance, no matter how long or how short I stay with you, I will always remember your warmth and your smiles, your creativity and spontaneity, and you will always hold a special place in my heart.
