Every university has its own unique Orientation Week, and Ryerson University is no exception. Orientation Week is the first chance every freshman gets to be truly welcomed into their new school; it’s also an awesome way to meet new people. Also commonly referred to as ‘Frosh-Week,’ this is the time you will meet your future classmates, explore campus, and check out the local city. Whether you are a new student, transfer student, or international student, Orientation Week at Ryerson is sure to have something for you.

Events to Expect

Orientation Week at Ryerson University typically takes place during the last week of August. Here are some of the exciting things you can expect for the week:

  • Karaoke nights
  • Trivia nights
  • ‘Amazing Race’: a race to explore the city of Toronto.
  • Concerts: usually at the central courtyard or ‘Quad’ as we call it.
  • Hypnotist/magician shows
  • Capture the Flag (glow in the dark)
  • Blue and Gold Games
  • Yoga (usually in the early mornings)
  • Water Olympics

Introduction to Academics

You can also expect to attend some academic events. The purpose of these events is to learn about the many different programs and majors Ryerson offers. It’s also helpful if you want to meet professors or seniors in your areas of interest.
