Hair can make a huge difference in your look. You can wear baggy, unflattering clothes but if your hair is put together, you’ll still look great. And the right hairstyle can take your favorite summer dress to a completely new level. Keep reading for 10 easy hairstyles to match all your summer dresses!
No matter what your hair length is, the soft waves add femininity and elegance with just the right hint of summer fun. You can achieve this look by leaving your hair in tight braids overnight or using a curler. The tighter the curls, the more upbeat you’ll look.
Fishtails are the easiest braids you can do and they really work well with plaid or patterned dresses. If you’re going to a party, this is something to try. For this look, part your hair any way you like and then gather it all to one side. Then take a section from the top and twist it backward, adding another section from the front until you get to the top of your neck. Tie your hair in a ponytail and then start your fishtail braid. Make sure to pull at it to get it loose to get it exactly the way in this picture. The top twist will loosen by itself as the day goes on.
This will make you look taller and sleek. I wouldn’t recommend this for thick hair but if you have mastered a way that works for you, then this is a must for those hot days. For this look, simply gather all your hair at the crown of you head and tie it in a circle motion. Secure with bobby pins and pull out a few strands if you want a messier look.
There are many variations of these but I tried this one out a few weeks ago and got compliments. It keeps the hair out of your face but still looks pretty. You could also tie a bow at the top with the side pieces of hair or leave that last step out completely, feel free to get creative.
My hair has lived in ponytails for a long time and I’m sure this isn’t new to anyone. But a lot of people get comfortable with the beach waves and don’t think of this as a hairstyle that can stand on its own. Ponytails look great with summer dresses and you can customize them depending on how lazy you feel. The one below makes it look like you put in effort but it’s actually quite easy to do. The rope braid part might be tricky but you can leave it out or switch it for something else. Link to the tutorial here.
This is quick and easy if you’re good with French braids, looks good on any length and it can make anyone look cute, but not like a baby, if you know what I mean. For this, part your hair down the middle and start braiding both sides and tie them with an elastic when you reach the bottom.
Almost every girl has attempted this at least once, but honestly, you haven’t really worn summer dresses unless you had this hairstyle to go with it at least once. For a simple version, take a small section of hair from behind your ear, braid it, bring it to the other side and secure with a bobby pin behind your other ear. You could also French braid it across for a more secure one.
This is a soft look that doesn’t require any braiding skills. Take equal chunks of hair from both sides and then twist and pull back. Secure with bobby pins (not an elastic) because the twists will become undone. Make sure to set with hairspray.
If you’re going to a wedding or just want to feel extra feminine, a flower crown is going to finish your summer dress look beautifully. For this look you have to create the twists again, but make them tight and use slightly smaller sections of hair- this will act like a soft bed for the crown to sit on. You can also twist the crown into your hair to make a headband. Again, get creative and don’t hesitate to stand out.
Sometimes it has a life of its own and leaving it alone will make it shine and help you and your summer dress slay even more. But do comb it before you head out, lol.
