Ottawa is one of those places that always has something to do, you just have to look for it. One of the best things about Ottawa, in my opinion, is that there is never a shortage of places to explore and enjoy. Check out the best entertainment in Ottawa.
1. Museums
There are so many amazing museums to spend your time in! Many of the museums have certain hours during the week where they offer free admission which is great for students or anyone looking for a cheap way to spend a few hours outside of the house. Some of my personal favorite museums are the National Gallery and Museum of Civilization. It’s also worth checking out the newly re-opened Museum of Science and Technology.
2. ByWard Market
The ByWard Market is where I spend most of my free time and it is safe to say it is definitely my favorite spot in the city. There is always something happening in the market, and there is definitely never a shortage of places to eat there! The summer months are especially nice because you can find fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers!

3. Outdoor Skating in the Winter
If you are looking for an inexpensive and fun outing for the wintertime skating is a good option. Check out the rink in front of city hall, the canal or the one by the governor general’s house and new this year is the Canada150 rink on Parliament Hill!

4. Lansdowne
Lansdowne is one of my personal favorites, especially during the Christmas season. The lights, Christmas tree, and market make for perfect entertainment. It is somewhere you can find something to do all year round with all the restaurants and a VIP movie theater at your disposal in one location.
5. Go to a Diner
Something I love about Ottawa is the selection of super cute old-style diners that are all over the city. Check out Zaks Diner or Elgin Street diner to get all the Riverdale vibes you need.
6. Explore the Glebe
The Glebe is another fun place to explore with your friends or a boyfriend. With tons of unique shops and places to eat the glebe is a great step back into Old Ottawa.
7. Check out the light show on Parliament Hill
Parliament Hill has started doing a wonderful firework and light show in the summertime and have one coming for the winter time as well. It is a great excuse to get cozied up with a blanket on the hill.
8. Walk around the Governor General’s House
The fall time is one of my favorite places to take a stroll around the park by the governor general’s estate.

9. Try an escape room
Escape rooms are always a good option, because who doesn’t want to lock themselves in a room for an hour! Give the Diefenbunker escape room a try, this one is unique to Ottawa.

10. Funhaven
Who doesn’t love being a kid again? Grab a friend and go relive your childhood out at the best arcade this city has to offer. This is a popular thing for entertainment in Ottawa.

I am a first-year journalism and political science student at Carleton University! When I am not writing for Mvslim or Society 19 I will probably be catching up on my favorite tv show or snuggled up with a good book. I love to travel and spend time with my friends and family. I enjoy baking delicious treats, watching movies and listening to some great music.
