1. Expand your pallet and try new delicious recipes.

Even though you might not be able to travel to a foreign country, you definitely have the opportunity to sample their food. So why not make a pact with yourself and a group of friends to try a new recipe or pick a different restaurant every week. Expand your pallet and perhaps in the process you’ll discover your new favorite food!

2. Teach yourself a new language!

Okay, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Obviously a four-month break is not enough time to learn a new language, however, it is a great opportunity create your foundation. Learning a new language is a great first step to introducing yourself to a new culture and expanding your interests. Not only can it add variety to your summer schedule but it can also make you appreciate a different culture in a way you would not have before. The knowledge you achieve during one summer can also pay off when you finally get the opportunity to travel abroad.

3. Take advantage of Toronto’s Art Scene.

Spend your summer exploring a variety of art museums in Toronto and gaze upon works from native and international artists. Other than the peace you will receive walking around the quiet, bright, and cool environments, a museum is a great place to learn and become inspired.

4. Get a lil’ crafty.

It’s time to take out the glue and paper mache and get creative. Turn up your favorite tunes and spend a couple of hours doing arts and crafts. Making something with your own two hands can be relaxing, stimulate your imagination, and also make you feel empowered for creating something of your own.

5. Reconnect with friends over board games and coffee.

Board games are so underrated. And reconnecting with friends with never be overrated. So swap your phones and social media profiles for a good board game and a cup of coffee with friends. Why not take the summer to revisit the games you enjoyed playing as a child and reconnect with friends over a cup of Joe at your closest coffee shop? Communicating with those around you without the presence of the online world relaxes and distracts you from keeping up you social media profile appearance.
