British television shows are way better than American shows. Don’t believe me? Remember when they tried to do an American remake of Skins? Americans were up in arms over the lack of censorship when in the UK that’s how lenient they are. Since it’s spring break time here are the top 5 British television shows to binge.
Black Mirror is a sci-fi anthology show. It’s basically a modern day science-y Twilight Zone. I like anthology shows, however, I’m not really into sci-fi. This is what put me off initially when it came to Black Mirror. I had heard about this show from my friends and it was all over my feed. I started to watch an episode I don’t remember which one and then I immediately stopped. It was weird to me. So my friend explained the episode “Arkangel” to me. She made it sound so interesting and I decided to give it a go. The first episode I watched in full was “Hang the DJ” and let me tell you, after that, I turned into a full-blown stan. Every episode is like a little movie full of suspense and plot twits.

The Inbetweeners is a show about the cringey antics of 4 British teenage boys, Will, Neil, Simon, and Jay. It is a coming-of-age sitcom and honestly it’s really funny. The humor is childish and stupid and that is probably why I love this show so much. I can’t tell you why but my favorite scene from the series is when Neil punches a fish to death. I know it sounds cruel and absolutely ridiculous but it’s just a scene you have to watch.

Bad Education is about Alfie Wickers and how he is England’s worst teacher. This isn’t about a history teacher teaching his first ever class; this is about a teacher who does not give a flying f*** about education. What Alfie Wickers does care about is impressing his crush Rosie Gulliver who is the biology teacher. His constant antics to impress her usually lands him in sticky situations where his students have to bail him out.

Whether it’s the idiotic boss Denholm Reynholm, or the random goth technician man who lives in the server room, The IT Crowd is a show like no other. The show follows IT guys Moss and Roy, and their new boss Jen who lied about knowing anything about IT when she was hired for the job.
Roy, played by Chris O’Dowd, is your typical slacker. Most of the time he sits in the office reading comic books or plays video games instead of actually working. If someone happens to call his standard greeting is “Hello IT, have you tried turning it on and off again?” Moss, played by Richard Ayoade, is a computer nerd with no social skills whatsoever. In other words, he is an awkward man-child. Jen, played by Katherine Parkinson, knows nothing about computers but somehow end up being the head of IT thanks to Mr. Reynholm, the dumb boss of Reynholm Industries.

Downton Abbey has to be one of my favorite British television shows. It is a historical period drama spanning 14 years with the series taking place right after the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. The show follows the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and lives of their servants.
