10 Breweries To Visit On Your Trip To Denver
Planning on visiting Denver this summer? Denver is famous for its breweries and special attention to craft beers. Check out these 10 breweries on your trip to Denver.
1. Woods Boss Brewing Company
Woods Boss Brewing Company is located in the Five Points neighborhood on the corner of 22ndSt. and California St. This brewery is the perfect stop on your trip to Denver. The ‘woods boss’ in the name is reflected throughout the décor in the brewery. The bar top is a huge slab of live edge wood topped with thousands of clear coats to create a glimmering shine. The backdrop behind the bar also has an ornate wood carving of pine trees against a trendy wood pallet looking back splash. The aesthetic of this brewery will make you fall in love with Woods Boss Brewing Company. Once you take a look at the beer menu, you will fall in love all over again. Woods Boss really puts love and attention into its beer selections and aging process. Currently, there is a Chardonnay barrel aged saison and a kettle sour fruited with pineapple, mango and blackberry among many others. The best part about this brewery is that they have partnered with various local restaurants and food trucks around the neighborhood like one of my favorites, ClusterTruck. I recommend ordering the buffalo chicken mac n’ cheese.
2. Grandma’s House
Grandma’s House is located on South Broadway and home to a cozy brewery with grandma vibes. I admit this theme is a little unorthodox but it totally works. This brewery celebrates all things craft from delicious craft beers to hand knitted tap cozies. The beers are placed in old school Welch’s glass cups with Winnie The Pooh and dinosaurs etched on them. Coming to this brewery is similar to spending the night at your grandma’s house. Instead of your apple juice going in the cool Disney cup, it’s now beer being served. There are a lot of the same board games you would find at your grandma’s house like Yahtzee and Mancala to be played while sipping on Imperial stouts and various lagers. Be sure to check out the events calendar online for special sipping and sewing events, bingo, and $2 off all pitcher specials.
3. Cerebral Brewing
This brewery is located in Congress Park on Colfax Ave. and Monroe St. This brewery has some of the most unique beer names like Dark Galaxie, Muscle Memory and Dark Energie. This brewery prides itself on the scientific approach to beer. The draft list is made up of wild/sours, lagers and porters. The great thing about this brewery and its large unique variety of beers is the option to order a taster of at least four or five beers. This brewery does not have a food option on site but there is usually a food truck sitting outside when those beer munchies kick in. The picnic style tables make this spot easy for large groups and a lot of intimate conversations to be had.
4. Denver Beer Company
The Denver Beer Company is located in the RiNo neighborhood on 15thSt. and Platte St. This beer company can be found in various liquor stores across the front range with flavors like a delicious graham cracker porter, princess yum yum raspberry Kolsch, pretzel assassin amber lager and a maui express coconut IPA. These beers taste amazing in the can but sipping on them at the taproom just hits differently. This brewery is the most quintessential Denver vibe, definitely a must stop if you are new to Denver or just passing through.
5. Fiction Beer Company
Fiction Beer Company is located on Colfax Ave and Quebec St. in the Montclair neighborhood. This brewery is literature themed with books stacked, holding up the bar top and tables with quotes from famous novelists. The vibe at this brewery is more like a coffee shop but replace the tall macchiato with a pint of beer. The draft list is extensive with lagers, IPAs, porters, saisons and stouts. You can find a lot of people playing board games and drinking beer or relaxing on the couch and reading a book.
6. Ratio Beerworks
Ratio Beerworks is a fun and hip brewery in the RiNo neighborhood. This brewery has a limited amount of beers on the list because they work hard to perfect the brews they produce. I recommend ordering the Domestica beer. It’s a great introduction to craft beer with a light and crisp flavor that is similar to American light beers. If you’re a more experienced craft beer drinker, I recommend the Chocolate Rye Scotch Ale. It has chocolate flavors and smoky notes with a mild sweetness. This brewery has live punk/indie music on occasion as well as a lit patio for summer nights.
7. Stem Ciders
Stem Ciders is also located in the RiNo neighborhood with some delicious ciders on tap. This brewery offers some unique flavors like rosé apple cider, chile guava apple cider, coffee apple cider and raspberry apple cider. The fun and frisky flavors mimic the atmosphere at this brewery. The downstairs in a fully operating brewery the size of a warehouse while the upstairs is a modern and sleek taproom with a huge bar in the center.
8. Spangalang Brewery
This brewery is the go-to for fun events and beer. There is always an event happening at Spangalang Brewery from live jazz to trivia nights. The draft selections here are exclusive and ones you’ve never had before. I would recommend trying the Miss Bliss sour with raspberry, plum and cherry notes. If you’re not a sour beer kind of person then I would recommend trying the Birth of Cool with cucumber water for a unique experience.
9. Baere Brewing Company
This brewery is located on South Broadway and tends to be a more family friendly brewery. The tap list consists of at least 16 beers from Irish Reds to Plum Table Sours. The community driven brewery always has fun events to attend like yoga, bluegrass live music, truffle cheese pop ups, and local vendors selling their wares every third Sunday. Check out the website to see more event details.
10. Cerveceria Colorado
This brewery is unique to Denver by honoring the traditions, flavors and culture of Mexico. Cerveceria Colorado has the most delicious beer flavors like an Horchata Blonde Ale, Churro Stout, Poblano lager and a Mangolito beer. These traditional Mexican flavors compliment the brewery’s aesthetic. The vibrant colors, loteria and pinata inspired décor gives off serious fiesta vibes.
