Board Games You Will Actually Want To Play This Quarantine

Honey, I get it- You have beautiful memories of family game nights. Playing hours of UNO with your mom, staying up late solving murder mysteries with your brother, and playing a game of monopoly that ALWAYS seemed to end in a fight over who stole the pink fifties -it was grandma.

Its time for Mr. Monopoly and his closest friends to step aside; I’ve got a brand-new generation of board games on rotation, and they pair great with a cheap bottle of wine. From games that require a little strategy to drawing without dignity, here are board games you will actually want to play during this quarantine.

Settlers Of Catan

Build new settlements, pillage villages for resources, and build an army as no world has seen before. The Settlers of Catan board game is all about discovering and settling in new lands before anyone else has the chance. Yes, this one can take up to 24 hours to play, but right now, we’ve got nothing but time. Spice it up and add on some seriously fun extension packs. Grab your telescope and give in to your inner pioneer. Land ho!

One Gotta Go

Four choices. One card. Arguments and liquid confidence. Does family game night get any better than this? Thrown down some of your white claw because it’s your turn to choose which one gotta-go. What will it be?WIFI or online shopping? Only one can stay, and the decision is yours. Play at your own risk; this game can be wildly addicting!

Drunk Confidence

We challenge you to show off your twerking skills, test out your best British accent, or sing Bon Jovi songs until your lungs are blue. Challenge accepted. You know your drunk when you can do something with confidence, and that is exactly what this game tests. Laugh along with your family and friends as you are challenged to do funny-and slightly embarrassing things. Grab your drink and join in on the fun. Who’s with me?

The Game of Life: Quarter Life Crisis

This is not a drill. Instead of trying to snag the victorian house and accountant salary cards in the OG game of life, you’ll pull cards like “Lose your Wifi” and “Call in sick to binge-watch.” .This hilarious spin on the classic game we all grew to love starts you out in mind-boggling debt. The premise of the game? Make it out debt-free and alive. Each action card also includes a hilarious dare that you have to complete to continue in the game. Warning: May get flashbacks of living in your parent’s basement.

Throw Throw Burrito

Have some pent up aggression from being stuck in the house all day? Do you want to hit your partner with something for listening to videos on their phone at FULL volume? If you answered yes to any of these questions (Chances are you did), then the board game Throw Throw Burrito is for you. Gather round ladies and gents because the makers of exploding kittens have invented the very first dodge ball card game. Yes, you read that right. This game includes burritos, burrito brawls, meow cows, and floaty goaties. Uh- forget it, just read the directions!

Monopoly: Game of Thrones

Winter isn’t coming, it’s here and so is this spin-off of the classic monopoly board game. Choose your house and test your luck as you make your way around the various lands throughout the seven kingdoms. The Game of Thrones Monopoly also includes coins instead of colorful money, chance cards from the Lancasters send their regards, and an iron throne cardholder that plays the theme song to the show we all love. Minus the bloodshed- this game is fun for all GOT lovers that are stuck bored in their castle.

Fog of Love

Grab your boo for this fun and flirty two-player board game. You and your partner will create two separate characters who meet, fall in love, and face the challenge of making an unusual relationship work. Submerse yourself in a game that is much like being trapped in your favorite romantic comedy. You are in for roller-coaster rides, awkward situations, lots of laughs, and plenty of painful compromises to work through.

The Voting Game

Nothing puts your friendship to test like the voting game. Each round starts with a question like, “Who would survive the longest in a zombie apocalypse?” Your family or friends vote on who fits the part the best, and then you guess who answered what. This is a great way to blow off some steam and get to know your loved ones a little bit better. Pro tip: Drinks are required.

Telestrations After Dark

We all remember playing a game of telephone with our friends at sleepovers. The classic “She said what?” game has been transformed into a fun game where your drawing skills are put to the test. You are assigned a word or phrase to draw; then everyone has to guess what it is. Shockingly entertaining and harder than it sounds, it is no mystery why this is one of the best board games around.

Bob Ross: Art of Chill

Paint mighty mountains and happy little trees as you embark on one of bob ross’s chill board games. Compete with each other as you rush to finish the painting before your opponents. Word of advice? Don’t let the other players beat you to the brush, or you’ll be forced to wash off your palette and go home.

Drawing Without Dignity

This Pictionary-esque game is addicting AF. This game is the sketching equivalent of fan-favorite, cards against humanity. Choose from over 500 #uncensored prompts and laugh as you try to guess what the other person is drawing. From beer pong to sugar daddies, this game has it all. Pro tip: Drinking enhances your artistry- just saying!

Board games are a great way to spend time with the people you love. Although this time is hard on many and it un-ideal to be cooped up in the house all day, sharing laughs with your friends and family is what will get us through this difficult time. There will also be winning involved—lots of winning, and who doesn’t love that?
