The 5 Best Workouts for People Who HATE the Gym

If you’re someone who hates the gym but still wants to work out to keep a healthy lifestyle, you’re not alone. Going to the gym can be intimidating for lots of us who just aren’t quite sure how to use every machine or are afraid of getting those nasty looks from the frequent gym-goers. If you’re like me and HATE going to the gym for these reasons, here’s a list of the five best workouts that don’t require you to step foot into a gym!

1. Go On a Hike

Grab a friend and find a local trail to explore while also getting in a workout. Hiking for even just a few miles can be way more beneficial than walking on a treadmill for an hour — plus getting out into the fresh air is good for the soul! Sometimes you don’t realize the beauty around you until you get out in nature! The best part about hiking is you don’t have to feel like you’re working out and it’s free and accessible to anyone!

2. Do Some Yoga

If you’re looking for a chill and relaxed way to workout, yoga will be your best friend. Either head to a local yoga studio to take a class or grab a mat or towel and follow a flow on your own. Yoga is a great option for anyone who likes feeling zen while getting active and working a sweat. You can even try different styles of yoga such as Bikram or Vinyasa if you’re up for a bit more of a challenging yoga practice.

Yoga is the perfect workout that you can do pretty much anywhere that doesn’t require you to step foot into a gym!

3. Go For a Swim

If you’re lucky enough to live by the beach or another body of water and the weather is nice, go for a swim! Swimming is a great way to get in cardio and can be a perfect workout for summer if you don’t like going to the gym. Swimming laps in a pool is also a great option and is a great way to work out if you don’t feel like going all the way to the beach.

This is one of the best workouts for summer and it doesn’t require you to spend a ton of time and money by going to the gym!

4. Dance To Your Favorite Music

Yup, you read that right. Put on your favorite upbeat music and dance like nobody’s watching. It’s not only a great workout, but it’s probably the most fun one too. Do it alone or grab your besties and have a full-on dance party listening to your favorite music. Sing your heart out and dance your butt off. Who says you have to go to the gym to work up a sweat?

5. Go For a Bike Ride

Pass on that cycling class and ride your bike in the real world for a fun and engaging workout this summer. A super great way to get in a bit of cardio without taking a bunch of time out of your day to go to the gym is to ride your bike places instead of driving or taking public transport! Who knows, maybe you’ll end up finding a cool new spot for coffee or tea on the way!

Spice up your daily routine by riding your bike places instead of taking a trip to the gym. This is one of the best workouts for people who hate going to the gym!

In my opinion, the best workouts are the ones that don’t require the gym! Do you also hate going to the gym? Share your personal favorite gym-less workouts below!
