Best Virtual Workouts To Try At Home

Let’s face it, not everyone really likes going to the gym. Sure, the stairclimber is great, your gym selfie may get a lot of likes, but it’s not for everyone and that’s okay. The gym can be super affective, but there are plenty of ways to use your home to workout! Some of us just want to blast our favorite Spotify playlist and do abs on our floor, and we can. Virtual workouts are one way to feel like you’re a part of a workout class or gym without actually being there. If you don’t have a gym membership, don’t feel like leaving your house, or just want to try it out, virtual workouts are there for you. Here’s some ways to workout comfortably in your own home!

1. Instagram’s IGTV Videos

If you follow any Instagram influencers in the fitness world, they may do virtual workouts now and then on their Instagram Live stories. This can be beneficial at the time, but then it’s gone for 24 hours. If you forget to tune in on an Instagram live within a day, then it might be difficult to go back to it. When Instagram accounts upload IGTV virtual workouts instead, they stay up like regular posts and we can refer back to them whenever we want to! One Instagram account that is great for accessible, pause whenever, virtual workouts is @variis. When you go to their account you will see they are a part of the gym Equinox. You will also see their whole page revolves around fitness. Variis’ Instagram series “Social Fitness-ing” shows us that we can make the most of out of our bodies and our living space, by working out just like we would in a gym! Their videos involve everything from abs, meditation and cardio and range from 5-30 minutes depending upon which one you click on.

2. CorePower Yoga

When I think of yoga I think of a powerful, yet more calming way to move your body. For many people, incorporating yoga into their lifestyle can bring relaxation and peace, along with a list of health benefits. Yoga classes can be expensive, but thankfully right now, we can take some classes for free from the best. CorePower Yoga studios are pretty much all over the country. If you do not have a membership any of the locations, you can currently use the CorePower Yoga On Demand’s option of browsing a weekly collection of full yoga workouts. You won’t have access to everything that’s on demand, but it gives you an opportunity to step aside from following Youtube videos while also making you feel like you’re in a class. There are more yoga virtual workouts out there, but CorePower Yoga is definitely worth checking out!

3. 305 Fitness

A dance party and a killer workout meet everything 305 Fitness is. If you live in the Boston area, you’ve probably stumbled across them in the heart of Kenmore. If you have never heard of them, now is the time to go on Youtube and check out their videos. 305 Fitness is a way for people to take classes, dance, be themselves, and get their bodies moving! They offer different class packages for in person work outs, but they currently have full workouts available for free on their Youtube account. If you really need to shake off the day, are sick of being on your treadmill, or just want to dance it out – check out 305 Fitness’ full cardio workouts that are music themed with upbeat jams from all the coolest decades!

4. Peloton App

Not everyone owns a piece of Peloton equipment for home workouts. Here’s a reason just why you don’t need to buy one either. Peloton is currently doing a 90 day free trial on their app, which allows people access to tons of workout videos. You can choose from one of their categories such as cardio, strength, stretching, etc. and follow along for full workouts. There is also the option to perform outdoor workouts that are instructed through audio instead of on screen. I have always thought how cool it’d be to even own a Peloton bike since they’re so popular, but their free trial of virtual workouts is an awesome and easy way to checkout what Peloton is all about!

5. Barry’s

The gym, Barry’s is now offering free, available, workouts on their Instagram IGTV videos on their @barrys account. What’s so great about this? No membership is required. Search their name, head to the IGTV section and pick one of their total body workouts instructed by personal trainers. Most videos of theirs require minimal equipment – literally just a mat so you are not working out on your hardwood floors. If you don’t want to do this on your phone because the screen is smaller, log onto Instagram on your computer and do their workouts that way.

6. 24GO Fitness App

If you are familiar with the gym 24 Hour Fitness, 24GO is their app. If you are not a member of 24 Hour Fitness, you can still have access to virtual workouts. All you have to do is download the app, and answer some questions about yourself and why you’re there. Then you’ll instantly be connected to workouts available to stream on your phone. There’s Zumba, high intensity interval training, cardio, vinyasa, etc. With a lot of variety, this app can teach you new workouts or help you switch up your workout routine. There’s a ton of virtual workouts out there, but these are all easily accessible, and full workouts rather than just clips and tips on what to do. It’s not always easy knowing where to start when working out, especially if you want to try something new. With virtual workouts, you can hit the pause and rewind buttons, letting you go at your own pace instead of having to keep up with a real life class. If you  don’t feel like going for a run or to the gym, don’t worry – virtual workouts will always be a thing.
