Best Tips For Making Some Money On Poshmark

What a time to be alive; you can sell your personal objects on Poshmark and make money without leaving the comfort of your own bed. When there are millions, yes millions, of users already in the game, it can be hard to make your items stand out. Ready to make some money of your own? Here are some tips to get you some extra cash by selling your items on Poshmark!

1. Treat Yo Self and Buy Something!

Poshmark can be the side hustle you’ve been looking for, but like any job, you’ve got to know what you can and can’t do. Read the rules in writing all you want, but I recommend buying something for yourself to get the lay of the land. With several different item categories ranging from women’s clothing to the newly added homeware category, it’s impossible to not find something you want. Spend 15 to 30 minutes searching through the app, ask questions about items you’re interested in and wait for it to arrive. You’ll know how to handle people interested in your items just by experiencing it for yourself.

2. Follow Your Friends And Other Poshers

Poshmark is like Instagram, the more followers you have, the more people see the stuff you’re selling. When you first sign up for a Poshmark account, it will give you different options on how to register your information. One option will let you sign up through Facebook and then show you who on your friends list has also created an account for themselves. Follow your real-world friends and let them know you’ve joined in on the buying and selling party. If you still want more followers or none of your friends are Poshers yet, browse around on the app. You’ll easily find a few closets you’re a fan of and you’re sure to get some follows back.

3. Sharing is Caring

With one easy click of your finger, you can share the love of showing your followers what others have in their Poshmark closets. Users get notified of who was sweet enough to share items they’re trying to sell. The more you share, the more people share what you’re trying to sell.

4. Have a Photoshoot For Your Items

Thank of your Poshmark closet as your personal boutique. What photos would make you want to buy that sweater you’re trying to sell? Most boutiques create an outfit based on the item they’re selling to show shoppers how to rock it. If it’s a gently used item you’ve worn more, take photos of how you styled it, give the people some inspo! If you want to go the whole nine yards, model the clothing yourself to give a visual, or find a friend and have a photoshoot together. When people see the item on and you provide specs in the description of it, they’ll have a better understanding of what it looks like. If you don’t feel like putting on a fashion show, just arrange a little outfit on a cute backdrop in your home and arrange the accessories you would wear with it, cute decorations, or whatever you want that would make people want to buy it. There’s millions of people who are already established on Poshmark, so don’t be afraid to browse through over item photos to get your creativity juices flowing.

5. Don’t Lie To Get People To Buy

If you’re trying to sell your boyfriend’s old football jersey that has grass stains and holes in it, don’t make it out to be brand new and second, don’t even try to sell it. Poshmark is great for the shopaholics who have new items sitting in the closet with tags (impulsive purchases, hello we all have them) and the ones you’ve worn just a few times, ready to part with. If there is a snag or tiny stain of what you’re selling, be honest in the description. Not only is it just really mean to falsely advertise something to make a quick buck, you’re going to get caught. If you bought an item for yourself, you’ll know Poshmark encourages buyers to inspect the item they’ve bought when it arrives. If it’s not exactly how it was described, your customers can file a case and let Poshmark decide if funds can be released to you. It’ll be safe to say that you won’t have a repeat customer and if you keep doing it, Poshmark with shut your account down.

6. Be Specific With That Description Box

People want information right in front of them or they’ll move right along to the next item. Although putting some specifics is required to post an item like the brand and sizes, other details people would probably like to know are not. Go ahead and go all out; get some measuring tape and list of the dimensions, type up the cleaning instructions, make it so most people shopping don’t have to ask questions before making a decision.

7. Answer Questions

It’s inevitable, people are going to have questions and hopefully they will ask because that means they’re interested. You’ll get a notification when some asks about a specific with an item you’re selling, so try to be as prompt as possible and give them the info they need. People might be interested in buying something with a time-sensitive even in mind or just want to get it fast. If you’re not able to give them the info ASAP, give them a heads up of when you can and that you’re not ignoring them.

8. Wrap It Up

This is probably one of the most fun parts about Poshmark; you can wrap like it’s Christmas. Get some cheap tissue paper (or wrapping paper, if you’re feelin’ fancy), ribbon, and cute stationary and have it available for whenever you sell anything. You may be writing to stranger, but write a cute little note showing your gratitude and put a quote that will make someone smile. Nothing makes someone more excited than seeing something they bought wrapped up in a bow, so put in the effort and have fun doing it.
