Best Tallahassee Study Spots

To be academically successful, you must create a personal routine that maximizes your efficiency. For some people, a good routine involves listening to a specific artist or genre of music, designating a time for daily studying, or leaving studying for last minute because you work better under pressure. However, most people like having one or more places to go, specifically for studying and completing schoolwork. Here is a list of the best study spots in Tallahassee when you just need a change from your library, apartment, or dormitory.

Florida State University (Tallahassee) campus:

Argo Tea

Florida State University, 142

Collegiate Loop, Tallahassee FL 32306

This hidden gem has a delightful variety of teas, delicious snacks, and a prime location right across from Landis Green. Be sure to try out some of their tea samples before ordering. My favorite tea is their Hibiscus Apple Cider (hot or iced)!

Chick Fil A

127 Honors Way,

Tallahassee, FL 32306

It can get a little loud at this hot spot but the fast food and prime location make it the perfect pitstop before your class. Make sure to leave some cushion time for particularly busy days.

Dunkin Donuts

109 S. Copeland St.,

Tallahassee, FL 32304

Do not be too intimidated by the ever-present long line, it moves very very quickly and the staff is sweeter than their donuts. There is always an awesome playlist in the background and outlets are located throughout the store, beneath the leather seats. Enjoy an iced coffee and warm donut.

Steak n’ Shake/Subway

104 Woodward Ave.

Tallahassee, FL 32304

If you are looking for a hot meal to keep you going strong in your studying, this is definitely the place to be. These two restaurants are conveniently connected to one another and are placed next to the Woodward parking garage and Dirac Science Library. Reward your hard work with a foot-long sub or juicy cheeseburger.

Landis Green

Florida State University

Tallahassee, FL 32304

Grab your blanket, snacks, and school readings for a relaxing study sesh. Bonus: you are more than likely to see some adorable dogs chasing each other. That is way more important than studying right? Also, you can really soak in the architectural beauty of FSU’s campus around the green. There’s nothing better than evenings on the green with your friends.

Outdoors:

Cascades Park

1001 S. Gadsden St.,

Tallahassee, FL 32301

This huge park offers plenty of shade for a great studying spot that overlooks the lake. Many working adults spend their lunch breaks doing laps around the lake.

Mission San Luis Park

1313 San Luis R.,

Tallahassee, FL 32304

Keep an eye out for an empty bench along the boardwalk. These quaint spots have a special vibe that overlooks the lake. This park also has an enclosed dog park so feel free to bring your 4-legged study partner. There are also great nature trails throughout the park in case you would like to stretch your legs.

Lake Ella

S. Lake Ella Dr.,

Tallahassee, FL 32303

A great daytime spot with a huge flock of geese to keep you company. Just park yourself in one of the swinging chairs.

FSU Reservation

3226 Flastacowo Rd.,

Tallahassee, FL 32310

Sneak in a little dose of nature by visiting the beautiful Florida State University Rez. Make your reading a little less painful by enjoying it on a lake, basking in the warm sun. Besides, what makes a better study break than kayaking?

Coffee shops/cafes:

The Sweet Shop

701 W. Jefferson St.,

Tallahassee, FL 32304

This classic spot is located right across the street from campus. The enchanting room offers guests various sized tables, couches, outlets, and an overall, homie feel which will have you coming back for more. Don’t forget to sign the wall with a permanent marker and order one of their magical drinks! I highly recommend the strawberry milkshakes.

SōDOUGH Baking Co.

1306 Thomasville Rd.,

Tallahassee, FL 32308

A zen spot with delicious treats and rustic decor. This place looks like it stepped right out of Pinterest. Their coconut chai tea is the perfect studying drink.

Black Dog Cafe

229 Lake Ella Dr.,

Tallahassee, FL 32303

See Also

This cafe is a wonderful sanctuary for when you need some distance from school. The small restaurant makes you feel like you are in a family living room and the porch has a lovely view of the lake. I recommend trying their tea and the ham and cheese croissant.

All Saints Cafe

903 Railroad Ave.,

Tallahassee, FL 32310

This place is the exact definition of a chill coffeehouse for grinding out school work. The drinks and food are just as unique and stimulating as the ambiance of the cafe. When you need a study break, just grab one of their board games from the second floor.

Restaurants:

Vale Food Co.

1861 W. Tennessee ST. #240,

Tallahassee, FL 32304

This place is great for anyone wanting to eat healthy in a relatively secluded restaurant. You can either get a hot meal for lunch or dinner or a refreshing açaí bowl as a snack. Most customers take their food to go, so studying here is relaxing and quiet.

The Edison

470 Suwanne St.,

Tallahassee, FL 32301

For a trendy space with dim lighting overlooking the Cascades Park, check out the Edison. The openness will give you a chance to spread out and enjoy the scenery of the beautiful park.

The Good Berry

1325 Thomasville Rd.,

Tallahassee, FL 32303

This place will provide you with a delicious açaí bowl to refresh your mind and tummy. You will feel extremely cozy in their small space, decorated with succulent centerpieces.

Madison Social

The perfect evening spot if you need a little liquid courage to keep you motivated. Grab a table outside to enjoy some fresh air and a poppin’ atmosphere. I highly recommend the Madison Mule and B-Mac & Cheese.

Panera Bread

800 Ocala Rd.,

Tallahassee, FL 32304

A great spot for working independently and collaboratively because of the various table sizes and an abundance of great food. Who doesn’t love a good broccoli cheddar in between chapters?

I hope this article gave you a few new studying spots to consider trying out! It is so important to have a reliable study spot that keeps you focused but isn’t too boring that you end up falling asleep. Every once and a while try out some new places until you find the one that clicks and you feel most productive at! Happy studying!
