7 Best Social Distancing Challenges That Are Worth To Try Out

Now that you’re stuck inside and the world is at a stand still, how do you keep yourself entertained? Well, you could binge-watch Netflix or take the time to learn a new skill, but these activities lack a certain social element that you’re seeking. Well then, you should head to social media and try some social-distancing challenges. Here is a fun list of 7 social distancing challenges that are worth trying out!

1. 3o Day Song Challenge

You have no doubt seen this social distancing challenge by now. Thirty days are marked out on a calendar, with each day having a specific song-related challenge associated with it. For instance, day 2 might be a song with your favorite color in the title. Some parts of this challenge can prove slightly more difficult, like having to choose a song that you enjoy by an artist you dislike. Truthfully, that is about the full extent of the difficulties associated with the “30 Day Song Challenge” though. The hardest part about this challenge is remembering to post a song every day.

At the end of the thirty days, you should have a fun and quirky playlist to remember your period of self-quarantine. The other perk of this challenge is you get to see your friends’ reveal their weird music choices. Who would’ve thought that your best friend was a closet Taylor Swift fan? The more you know!

2. 30 Day Photo Challenge

Realistically, this entire list could have been made up of random “30 Day” social distancing challenges, as a simple google search would probably reveal all manner of ridiculous month long challenges. One of the more interesting thing about the “30 Day Photo Challenge,” however, is that it seems to have entirely different requirements depending on which social media site you’re using. For instance, some sites seem to call for a new selfie with some different filter every day. Some sites call for photos from different times of your life or that fit specific specifications (i.e. you with something you can’t live without).

The vast amount of different versions of this challenge make searching through different posts a pretty chaotic experience. It is probably beneficial to try to keep this challenge between you and some of your close friends. As with all of these challenges, you care encouraged to tag friends that you want to see participate!

3. “Pick 3” Challenges

The “Pick 3” social distancing challenges seem to have gained popularity on Twitter. This challenge is fairly simple, as it just requires a response from you, as a user. The original post will be composed of 9 pictures all put together on a grid. You will then be asked to pick three options. It might be nine pictures of Marvel movies with the prompt “three have to go,” or it could be more positive. The posts are often specified to certain time periods. For instance, you might find nine 90’s Disney films on one of the posts. Sometimes the post will be as simple as listing your three favorite types of pizza. Your response can be as simple as just listing the numbers that you’d pick or you can offer more explanation.

This challenge is entertaining because it often brings up movies or albums that you might not have thought about for some time. When you’re stuck inside for a month, it’s helpful to be reminded of things you enjoy. So, go ahead and stream those nostalgic movies and albums. Just be sure to stay healthy!

4. Push Up Challenge

This is another social distancing challenge that has taken on a few different forms. One of the more popular versions of this challenge is to post a short video of your doing ten push ups and then tag five friends that you want to do the same. The idea of this challenge of course being that one should encourage his or her friends to be physically active during quarantine.

One of the other versions of the push up challenge that has been circulating online is a little more intensive. In this version of the challenge, you are to start at a small number of push ups on day 1 and increase the amount that you complete with each passing day. This version of the challenge doesn’t necessarily require you to tag your friends, but there’s certainly nothing wrong with encouraging your friends to work out.

5. Until Tomorrow Challenge

This social distancing challenge really took off on Instagram, with users being encouraged to post an embarrassing photo of themselves with the caption until tomorrow. You would then message whoever liked your embarrassing photo and encourage them to do the same. This challenge is fun because it goes against the need to look “cool” on social media. Your embarrassing photo will only be on your account for 24 hours and, in return, you’ll get to see your friends in some equally embarrassing photos. So, time to bust out those old photos of your terrible Halloween costumes! Maybe you have some awful drunk selfies you feel brave enough to post. Either way, the picture is only staying up until tomorrow.

6. Shot Challenge

As far as social distancing challenges go, this one really brings the party to you. The shot challenge is exactly what the name suggests. For this challenge, you film yourself taking a shot and then tag friends that you’d like to see do the same. Most of these posts seem to be on peoples’ Instagram or Snapchat stories, as these videos are only posted temporarily before expiring. You can always make this challenge extra fun by purposely choosing types of alcohol that you or your friends hate. Just remember the burn is worth the buzz. Obviously, this challenge is limited to those 21 and up. Don’t drink kids.

7. Quarantine Beard

Now, this social distancing challenge is limited by both biology and genetics. Unfortunately, not everyone can grow a beard. For those of you who can, though, now is your chance. You don’t have to leave your home or appear professional for a sizable chunk of time. Now would be as good a time as any to try to grow that beard out. Unless the apocalypse truly happens, there should always be a razor around to get rid of any unwanted neck beards. So, let your hair go wild, but try to stay self aware.
