It’s always nice to know where the good places to eat are. Especially when you’re new to the area, you need to make it a point to figure out all the best eateries near you. If you go to school at Virginia Tech, or just happen to be in the area, you need to check out these restaurants near Virginia Tech.
Benny’s is “Home of the Virginia Slice” and everyone in Blacksburg knows of the famous pizza joint. Their slices are bigger than your head and range from plain cheese to whatever specials they have going on that month, like buffalo chicken. If you go to Virginia Tech, you’re bound to stop at Benny’s and make sure to order the ranch or garlic butter dipping sauce, it’s too die for. It’s a close walk from campus and late at night the line is usually out the door. If you like pizza, this is definitely a restaurant near Virginia Tech you can’t miss!
This hidden gem is right off the highway in Christiansburg. Their smoked deep fried wings are delicious. They also serve up a good pulled pork sandwich with sweet hush puppies. The best part is all of their sauces are homemade and the sweet brown sauce is amazing. This is truly authentic southern barbeque.
Cabo is a Mexican restaurant right on main street that serves delicious Baja Shrimp and Crab dip. Their specialty menu item includes the Lemon Grilled Shrimp tacos that have become very popular and a must try. They have outdoor seating and it’s very family friendly and laid back. I love Cabo’s overall vibe so go and check it out.
D.P. Dough is another classic in Blacksburg and has every kind of calzone you can think
of. The delicious oven-baked food is the best late-night snack and is open until 2:00 am. One of my personal favorites is the Chicken Parma-zone. This is located right on main street and is a minute walk from campus.
Gillie’s is practically on campus and is a very popular brunch location. On a nice day their outdoor seating is available. They are also gluten free and vegetarian friendly. If you’re looking for delicious breakfast potatoes or smoked salmon hash this is the place to be. The Poached Egg Florentine is also very popular and add the smoked salmon on top for an extra touch.
Sakura is one of my ultimate favorites because I love hibachi style cooking and if you do too then this restaurant near Virginia Tech is the place for you. It’s very affordable and the hibachi shrimp, steak or chicken with sautéed vegetables has become one of my favorite dishes. They also have delicious sushi dishes. Some of the most popular ones include the Sunset roll and the Crazy Roll. The best part is they have a drive-thru connected to the building just in case you don’t want to leave your car.
The Cellar is also located on main street and is walking distance from campus. You can find a dish for everyone because their menu features calzones, wings, pizza, sandwiches and salads. One of my personal favorites is the Cellar Cheese-Steak and the cheesy curly fries with bacon and ranch. They also have outdoor seating and a very cool family friendly vibe inside.
This cute 50’s themed diner is a fun place to sit down and take in the cool environment. It’s right next to the math emporium and has the most delicious shakes, burgers and fries. I also love all of their cheese steak sandwiches, including their All-American Chicken Cheese Steak.
This Italian restaurant has delicious pasta and yummy bruschetta. It’s right next to the Cinemax in Blacksburg and if you’re craving some Italian food, this is the family friendly place to go.
This is a hidden gem in Blacksburg right behind the Cook Out. It’s a perfect place for breakfast. They have omelettes, crepes, waffles and specialty breakfast plates. One of my favorites is the Garbage Plate that’s served during Saturday brunch.
This cute brunch/breakfast place is located right on main street and is walking distance from campus. It’s a perfect place to go with your parents and impress them with the delicious Blacksburg food. It has the most delicious fried green tomatoes and chicken with waffles. I love the family friendly vibe in here, but make sure to call in advance because it’s always busy.
This is a town favorite and is a great lunch and dinner place. Their crispy fries make every meal. Some of the most popular meals include their veggie/chicken wraps and their signature burgers. One of my personal favorites is the bacon egg and cheese burger topped with an onion ring.
If you’re looking for a great pizza place with plenty of topping options, Mellow Mushroom is a great place. The atmosphere is light and it’s a great place for a big party of people. They also have other options for people who may want something else like salads and hoagies.
This place is known for its delicious fried dumplings and cold noodles. It’s a great to-go Chinese place and is very affordable. It’s also located right next to the math emporium so you can grab some right after you’ve studied hard.
Macado’s has a really cool and fun vibe almost like a Margaritaville. If you’re looking for a really yummy mac and cheese theirs is topped with a layer of cheddar. I also love how many types of sandwiches they have to offer, it makes it easy for even the pickiest eater to find something they like.
