Civilization is known for their “World Wide Wednesdays.” Each Wednesday, Civilization offers meals associated with different countries. All produce items are from local farmers because Civilization believes strongly in supporting the Gainesville community. Whether it’s dine in, carry out, or even catering a special event, this hidden diner will have you begging for more.

4. PDQ

PDQ stands for “people dedicated to quality.” While this statement is true, I’d like to think it stands for “pretty damn quick” since your food is handed to you immediately after you place your order. It’s is the prime definition of deluxe fast food. There are many options of milkshakes, sandwiches, salads, and sauces. PDQ is unique because it has different choices compared to other fast food places like zucchini fries, sides of feta tomato salad, hand squeezed lemonade, and mint Oreo milkshakes.

5. The Top

Located in downtown Gainesville, The Top is a restaurant with a nice atmosphere and much variety. This makes it a really fun place for University of Florida students to go to. There are meal choices for people who follow different dietary needs such as vegan, vegetarian and gluten free. There are seafood and Italian meal choices as well as the classic build your own burger, grilled cheese, salads, pastas, and more. For my herbivore friends, The Top has an insane amount of options for you to choose from: the eggplant rollatini, basil pesto, tofu, black bean cakes, and even vegan chocolate cake! Every Sunday, The Top also has an all-day brunch option that draws in huge crowds each week.

Another tasty pizza option for University of Florida students! Satchels is a restaurant everyone must try when in Gainesville. You can’t go a day in this city without seeing some of the famous Satchel’s bumper stickers on cars. Pretty close to campus, Satchel’s is famous for their pizza, but they serve salads and calzones too along with their famous homemade sodas! The setting is unique compared to other restaurants.
