Best Photo Locations at the University of Illinois

There are so many reasons that the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a great college and a great campus. One of the best ways to show off how great the campus is is to photograph it! You could take a photo just about anywhere, but there are select locations that are Illini classics. With that in mind, here are some of the most iconic photo locations at the University of Illinois.

Alma Mater

This is without a doubt the most iconic photo location on campus. You can’t visit campus and not take a picture in front of Alma! From taking a picture there when you take a tour, to taking a picture in your graduation cap and gown, by the end of your four years your camera roll will be filled with Alma pictures.

The Quad

This is the most “campsy” part of the University of Illinois. Snow or sun, it always looks beautiful. Whenever you are walking to class, you will see people taking pictures of the quad or on the quad. 

Kams

Even though the most iconic photo location on campus is Alma, the place where the most photos are actually taken is at Kams. The Alma painting on the wall is on every single student’s Instagram. It’s like a right of passage. Basically, every time you enter Kams, you have to take a photo there.

Grange Grove

Grange Grove is the entrance to the football stadium. There are lots of great places to take pictures here, but especially the big “I.”

Sorority House

The University of Illinois has the largest Greek system in the nation, and with 25 percent of students participating in Greek life, there are a lot of students in a house. There are 19 different sororities and its always fun taking pictures outside of your house. Whether it be formal recruitment, a philanthropy event, or just an impromptu photo-shoot, these pictures always turn out great.

This one is a great location because it literally says the name of the school. It makes is a great photo for those who are excited about posting the college they have chosen. Also, it’s very popular for graduation pictures because, again, it says the name of the school you just graduated from in the photo.

Barns

Barn dance is a sorority/fraternity date event that everyone loves. You go to one of the many barns surrounding campus, dress up in “country” clothes, and have a good time! It’s hard to not take a million pictures at date events, especially ones that you dressed up for.

Freshman Dorms

Everyone loved their freshman dorm at times, and hated it at other times. But by the end of the year, you realize you are truly going to miss living there. On move-out day, you have to memorialize your time in the dorms by taking a photo in from of your specific dorm sign. It just proves that you survived dorm life.

Memorial Stadium

There is nothing that shows school pride more than the football field. There are plenty of great places at the stadium to get pictures before, during, and after the Fighting Illini games. The best part about taking photos at the stadium is you are defiantly going to be all decked in your Illini gear which just adds to the photo.

Its always a good day to be an Illini, and the Illini love to take pictures showing off the campus. The entire campus is photo-worthy, but these are just a few of the most popular photo destinations at the University of Illinois. Get out there and take some great pictures.
