10 Best Non Coffee Drinks From Starbucks
I’ll go ahead and say it, Starbucks coffee is overrated. And yet, I find myself there at least once a month. Why? They’re on every damn corner and have mobile ordering and are just so convenient. I used to go there minimum once a week, and stopped going because I didn’t love their coffee, but I discovered their other drinks and my obsession with the green mermaid is back.
1. Strawberry Acai Refresher
This my be the only drink that will scream basic white girl more than the PSL. But can we really blame white girls for this, these are actually delicious, and like it says in the name, refreshing. This is a perfect pick me up for a mid day drink, it’s got some caffeine but won’y make you jittery like an espresso drink. It’s a semi sweet drink but it’s naturally sweetened so no extra sugar, unless you order it with some. It comes with dehydrated strawberries in the drink for an added strawberry flavor, plus it makes the drink even more instagrammable. (Let’s be honest that’s the real reason it’s so popular, but no judgement here.)
2. Chai Tea Latte
If you want to go with something you know and a tried and true beverage, this is the perfect choice. Essentials every coffee shop will also serve a chai tea latte, that until literally a month ago, I thought coffee came in it. (Sadly, I was wrong.) You can however order it with an added shot if you just really need a huge caffeine boost, but a chai tea latte should have enough caffeine already to get you through the day. For anyone who likes coffee drinks but aren’t a huge fan of the coffee part, this has everything you like about a latte without the espresso. A delicious alternative to an espresso drink. And I have to give it to Starbucks, their chai tea latte is actually one of their best drinks so switch up your normal drink and try this classic.
3. Iced Peach Green Tea
There was a week where I was sick and I ordered this everyday, convinced it would heal me. I like iced tea, but I can only ever drink it if it’s flavored and sweetened or else it just tastes like water to me. Their iced peach green tea is my favorite drink on this entire list. It’s not too sweet where you feel like your drinking straight sugar (AKA any Dunkin’ iced coffees when you order sugar, don’t argue with me on that.) The peach flavor adds some of the sweetness without overwhelming the green tea flavor. If you want a truly refreshing, energizing drink this is a great option.
4. Pink Drink
This was the drink that took over the internet and wasn’t even on the Starbucks menu. It became so popular that they added it to their menu. This is essentially the first drink, Strawberry Acai Refresher but instead of using water as the base, they use coconut milk. People about lost their minds when this came out, and everyone started trying to create drinks this aesthetically pleasing in every color of the rainbow. The Pink drink and the Violet drink are the only two that really stayed, but this one is definitely more tasty than the violet.
5. Blended Strawberry Lemonade
If you really just want a cool, refreshing drink that has no caffeine in it, this is what you’ll want. It’s a blended strawberry lemonade, so think about the really hot days when you just want something cold and delicious, like an icee but not just fake sugar and flavor. I was seriously surprised at how good it was and it was a great option for something cool without caffeine or super caloric.
6. Iced Guava White Tea Lemonade
This, like the iced peach green tea, is another really great refreshing Starbucks drink. I love the lemonade in it for a more flavorful option. If they’re sold out of the green tea, I usually get a white tea and this is typically the white tea one I opt for. Like, the green tea, it’s super refreshing and adding in the lemonade will make it less caffeinated.
7. Chocolate Cookie Crumble Creme Frappuccino
Let’s be real, Frappuccionos are basically glorified milkshakes, without the ice cream. So if you’re trying for something just as satisfying as a milkshake, this is a great solution. It’s still high in calories but has far less dairy than milkshakes since it uses ice instead. Every now and then we all just need a frappe, this one does not have coffee in it, but you can order any of them with espresso if you need the caffeine boost. This one other than their S’mores, which sadly is seasonal, is probably their best most flavorful one.
8. Caramel Ribbon Crunch Creme Frappuccino
This is for all the caramel lovers out there, and one of their more popular frappes. This like the chocolate cookie crumble has cookie pieces in it for the added crunch. A delicious treat for any day. And like the chocolate cookie crumble creme frappe, you can also order with with espresso if you want that coffee taste. This is a perfect late night snack to fill your ice cream craving but also not keep you up all night like the coffee frappes do.
9. Cinnamon Dolce Creme
Cinnamon Dolce Latte is my all time favorite latte from Starbucks, even more so than the beloved Pumpkin Spice. It’s flavorful, sweet but you can still taste the coffee. The creme option is the same drink, just without the espresso and its a great substitution when you’ve already had too much coffee, or you’re looking to cut down on caffeine. It’s a great warm beverage during winter to keep you warm but won’t give you a caffeine hangover the next day.
10. Peppermint Hot Chocolate
I love Christmas drinks and Starbucks is the queen of Christmas coffee. But if you want something that isn’t coffee, there nothing more Christmasy than a peppermint hot chocolate. You are lying to yourself if you say you don’t love hot chocolate in winter, there’s such a nostalgic feeling drinking hot chocolate and the peppermint will put you right in the holiday spirit. This is perfect for driving around looking at Christmas lights or just a yummy drink after a long day of work.
