Best Inspiring Shows To Binge During Quarantine

Right now, the whole world is dealing with the same experience. We are in all quarantine, whether it’s alone, with our significant other or with our family. While it may seem difficult at points, it is necessary that we all remain positive and grateful for what we do have during these tough times of uncertainty.  One thing I have found that is helpful, is watching a feel-good show. It is important to clear your mind and do something that makes you feel inspired, under any circumstances. Check out some of the best binge-worthy and inspiring shows to watch during quarantine!

1. Making It

If you’re looking for ways to get crafty or channel your inner creativity, Making It is the show for you. Hosted by Parks and Recreation’s own Nick Offerman and Amy Poehler, this competitive craft show is filled with dry humor and authenticity. Both seasons can be found NBC’s website, and season 2 can be watched on Hulu. Makers from all over the country put their DIY skills to use by doing projects such as turning a shed into a getaway, and putting their own unique spin on simple decor like wreaths. If you’re also inspired by DIY projects, Making It is a must watch. Contestants take everything from balloons, spray paint and cake and turn a basic idea into a masterpiece. Throughout the show, you see contestants working together and cheering each other on. Whether you want to try out some new arts and craft with your partner or family, or just are looking for something to uplift your spirits, Making It is a wonderful place to start. It sticks out amongst other competitive television shows since we see a majority of them being about food. It is one of the most inspiring shows that reminds you that nothing is too far out of reach when it comes to making something!

2. Shark Tank

Yes, Shark Tank has been around for over 10 years on television and is still going on. But, if you haven’t gotten into this show before, now is the time to start. During this time, we could all use a break from doing another Zoom conference, working from home, looking for jobs or finishing our online classes for the semester. I have always found that Shark Tank is one of the most inspiring shows on television. It is real, to the point, and gives people the chance to share their hard work with the world. What is really bold about this show is the confidence it takes for an entrepreneur of any age to pitch a small business plan or big idea to judges. If one of the judges decides to negotiate an offer and work with you, that’s great news too. Not everyone gets a chance to work with Mark Cuban or Mr.Wonderful, but making it onto the show is inspiring enough on its own. Shark Tank is currently available to stream on Hulu and Amazon. You can listen to people share their stories about what goes into making their dreams happen, as they inspire others watching to do the same.

3. Queer Eye

If you remember the original Queer Eye and loved it as much as I did, the Netflix reboot is for you. Fab Five squad, Antoni, Karamo, Tan, Bobby, and Jonathan bounce around Atlanta and its suburbs to help people in need of a lifestyle makeover. While catering to different needs such as a change in diet, house decor, wardrobe, appearance and living – all of the fab five brings positivity, with a touch of glam to whoever they meet. This show will make you laugh, cry and smile.  Every person in each episodes comes from a different background. The people in the show will remind you that everyone has a story, even if they don’t talk about it. Queer Eye will make you embrace all the qualities you possess even if you don’t want to.  It is one show that shows the beauty within people inside and out, and how to make subtle changes to your lifestyle that can help better your state of mind. It can be as simple as cleaning out your closet, trying a new food, or rearranging the furniture in your house. Queer Eye is of the most inspiring shows on Netflix, and is definitely worth watching on repeat.

4. Tidying Up With Marie Kondo

While it may seem that some of us have more time since we’re stuck in the house, it can still be a battle to want to be more productive. Author Marie Kondo takes viewers on a journey with her show on Netflix about tidying up. There is only one season of Tidying Up on Netflix, but it makes for one of the most inspiring shows, especially during times like these where we could all use of a boost of positivity and cleanliness in our homes. She introduces us to her KonMari method that she developed in order to become more organized. It is easy to let everyday life distract us from doing things we have been putting off, such as going through our clothes that we no longer need, or going through a filing cabinet full of papers we really don’t need anymore. Tidying Up With Marie Kondo is a motivational show that brings reality to the screen, about how clutter and being unorganized can make for a messy mind as well. There are valuable lessons to be taken from a show like this, which incorporates real life people and shows how taking action, like tidying up your household can change your life for the better. If you have already watched this show and need another activity to do, or just need a new book to read, check out Marie Kondo’s “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing.”
