10 Best Hangover Foods That Will Make You Feel Better In No Time
We have all been there waking up in the morning, make-up running down your face, stale vodka on your breath. The beginning of a hangover is just starting, and you are both starving and grossed out with yourself. When you find yourself in this situation here are our 10 Best Hangover Foods That Will Make You Feel Better In No Time.
1. Fried Chicken
Kentucky fried, spiced well and both crunchy and delicious. Fried chicken is a great option for anyone in those unsightly hungover predicaments. This can be tenders, nuggets, or wings, anything that does not make you feel quezzy.
Our favorites include Canes Chicken, Popeye’s, and on our darkest moments McDonald’s. All chicken is a great option for the morning headaches. Add some fries to sop up the left over alcohol in your system.
2. Burrito
This not only is a very hearty meal it is also very easy to hold. Which is beyond necessary when you are swaying back and forth or have to give your food to a random stranger to hold when you are throwing up in a Mexican restaurant. This also pairs nicely with a margarita, because we have all needed to not feel a hangover for a few more hours.
Do not forget on the burrito to add as much protein and rice as possible because it will really help metabolize the alcohol quicker. However be careful to listen to your body and not get to queezy with your food choices.
3. Nachos
Much like the above burrito concept, there is something amazing with Mexican food for hangovers. I would recommend eating nachos with a large glass of water. The cheese may taste good but the after effects might make your tummy rummbly so try to not add a carbonated drink with this at all.
Bonus add lots of guacamole if you can stomach it because it has a light of healthy fats which help restore your brain after a crazy night. It would also be beneficial to add lots of veggies for the water content to re-hydrate yourself.
4 Bananas
Big bananas B-A-N-A-N-A-S, or also how I still spell bananas in my head, no shame. These are great for monkeys, they have a built in container, and are both sweet and full of potassium. Potassium that helps hangovers ten fold, your body (go figure) after drinking is very depleted in lots of nutrients. Which bananas help replenish.
So if you have these easy snacks in your house for sure grab one during your next day-after-bender moment.
5. Straight Pedialyte
This is a little embarrassing to recommend, but if you are a party-er you are going to find the power of Pedialyte quicker than reading this. It was originally and I think still is primarily designed for sick children who need electrolytes. Much like sick children grown a** hungover adults also find this very useful and powerful after a bender.
When you are checking out in a store and you are embarrassed pretend like you have children at home by getting a cart that looks like the car. All is fair when trying to feel better.
6. Chips and Guac
These bad boys are good no matter the time or situation. They are specifically great after a long fun night. Chips and guac is a basic food with little extra flavor, that is easy on the stomach and tastes really good. If you have not tried this EVER you probably live under a rock, but it is fair if you have never tried this as a hangover food!
Add this with the burrito and nachos from above and you will have a feast that everyone will be jealous of in no time.
7. Oats and Honey
Oats and honey are a specifically healthy option for a good hangover food. The oats are very absorbent to catch any left over alcohol and the honey is good for you for so many reasons. Not to mention oats are very low taste which can sometimes be the perfect food for an upset stomach.
One thing a lot of people do is put bananas in the oats with honey as well for a super breakfast that you will not be sorry about.
8. Eggs Benedict
Eggs Benedict or eggs beni is so absolutely delicious and can be eaten with guacamole and so many other things. The holindays sauce is not everyone favorite, so I would try this sober first just so you know how you like it. Whole wheat toast is also a great pair with Eggs Benedict to again help metabolize the booze.
This is a little hard to make yourself unless you know how to poach eggs so most people would eat this at a restaurant if they are still learning howto poach.
9. Watermelons
Watermelon is mostly good for hangovers because it is like almost fully water. What makes hangovers so bad is dehydration. Which is why drinking a glass of water before bed makes it easier in the morning.
So try watermelon when you are looking for something easy for your body to digest but also trying to get rid of those symptoms of a night out quicker than normal.
10. Bagels/Bread
Just like in the other section, bread/ bagels/ or carbs in general are great to help with digestion and get at least something in your stomach. It also again helps soak up the left over alcohol so it does not make you feel worse in the coming hours.
Try adding the banana or guacamole from above to make it double useful in this up and coming tricky time for yourself. You will not be sorry after eating something so simple like bread.
