The best part about Halloween has always been the spooky movies that get your ready for the 31st. Actually, the best part about Halloween is really the candy, but movies are a close second.  If you’re looking to get in the spirit by cozying up on the couch and binging a few flicks, then keep reading for the 35 best Halloween movies on Netflix!

1. Scream (1996)

Scream is a great Halloween movie for beginners. This movie is perfect combination of campy and scary, so it is great to watch with a group of friends. (Warning: it might make you more afraid to answer a phone call than you were before.)

2. Coraline (2009)

Coraline is freaky, but it is definitely not going to be the most terrifying Halloween movies on Netflix. Give this one a go if you’re not one for blood and gore.

3. The Babadook (2014)

Come for the scares, stay to try and figure out how the Babadook became a gay icon in 2017.

4. The Fly (1958)

Just because this one is old does not mean it isn’t scary! The fly in your room will definitely not seem so scary anymore. There is also a 1986 remake starring Jeff Goldblum, so you can make it a double feature!

5. The Shining (1980)

This horror classic is a must for any Halloween movie list. You might end up watching this one a couple more times to actually understand it, but it will be just as terrifying each time as the first!

6. Young Frankenstein (1974)

Gene Wild is absolutely perfect as a young Dr. Frankenstein trying to prove himself in Transylvannia. And honestly hilarious!

7. Casper (1995)

The friendly ghost! This is one of those Halloween movies that somehow never, ever gets old.

8. Casper Meets Wendy (1998)

After you watch the original, you are definitely going to want to revisit Casper Meets Wendy. Hillary Duff and Casper are #squadgoals.

9. It (1990)

See the original before you go see the reboot in theaters! (Hard pass if you’re not into clowns, though.)

10. The Sixth Sense (1999)

This is M. Night Shyamalan at his best. (You know, before he made a movie about the devil getting stuck in an elevator?) DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT fall asleep for the end! You will be mind blown.

11. The Addams Family (1991)

Let’s face it, the Addams were the original modern family.

12. Paranormal Activity (2007)

Experience the movie everyone was freaking out about 10 years ago when you were too young to buy a ticket to see it!

13. Sleepy Hollow (1999)

This movie centers on the investigation of three decapitations in Sleepy Hollow. (The Headless Horseman might be a safe bet.)

14. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966)

The least scary movie on the list!

15. The Bride of Frankenstein (1935)

You know what they say! Behind every great monster is a great monster lady.

16. It Follows (2014)

This particularly terrifying take on the college dating scene might just make you even warier of dating college dudes.

17. Ghostbusters (1984)

This is one of those movies that your parents always talk about and make you wish you could have watched it in theaters with them. Scary? It won’t keep you up at night, but it will have you laughing.

Watch the all-female reboot after the original!

19. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

No, you might not be able to get the songs in this movie out of your head for a few weeks. But you will absolutely get some good Halloween costume inspiration.

The title is usually a pretty good sell on this one. It is the absolute epitome of Halloween horror!

21. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

Watch the movie that came before all of the sequels, reboots, and tv shows! Do not watch this one alone, though!

22. Fright Night (1985)

A great ’80s thriller about vampires! What more could you want?

23. Fright Night (2011)

And after you watch the original, you will probably want to check out the reboot. Because Collin Farrel as a vampire.

This Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder classic is probably more likely to make you shed a tear than scare you.

31. House on Haunted Hill (1959)

Would you take $10,000 to live in a haunted house overnight? Yeah, probably TBH.

32. Poltergeist (1982)

They’re heeere… Ah yes, the movie that brought you one of the most famous lines in movie history. And also the same line you say when the pizza guy shows up.

Watch at your own risk, this movie is based on a true story.
